A boating accident has claimed the life of one man and left another in hospital after their boat capsized in eastern Victoria.
Emergency services were called to the Reeves Canal near the entrance to Gippsland Lakes on Monday morning after passing boats noticed the two men were in trouble.
“One of the men was pulled from the water unconscious and, despite the best efforts of good Samaritans, died at the scene,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
The second man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
None of the men have been formally identified and Victoria Police will provide a report to the coroner.
