Lady Mary Charteris has revealed she has been alcohol-free for “six years, five months and 22 days” as she supported the launch of a new alcohol-free prosecco.

The 37-year-old London socialite took to Instagram to share a snap at the launch party for a non-alcoholic sparkling rosé from Della Vite, the brand created by sisters Chloe, Poppy and Cara Delevigne.

“Finally, something for the teetotalers,” Mary wrote. She added: “I haven’t had a drink in six years, five months and 22 days, but who’s counting? I always look for other options when I go out.”

‘Thank you, Della Vite, for taking care of everyone. And thank you for inviting me to DJ at the launch of your non-alcoholic Prosecco.

Delevingne’s younger sister, model and actress Cara, 31, who previously checked into rehab after battling addiction, also appears to have taken a liking to the non-alcoholic drink and grabbed a bottle of it at Glastonbury.

Mary took to Instagram to share a snap of herself DJing at the launch party – one of her many creative talents as the 37-year-old is also a member of electronic rock band The Big Pink.

The socialite, who welcomed daughter Wilde Jessie Furze in 2021, was once known as a wild party girl. Now, the model, DJ, singer and IT Girl is continuing her fun-filled, but alcohol-free, adventures.

She joins a list of young socialites opting for a teetotal lifestyle, including Lady Lola Bute, 25, who has witnessed first-hand what can happen with a life of excess.

In 2019, Lady Lola lost her boyfriend Kai Schachter to suicide. Just six months later, her best friend IIa Scheckter died of a suspected accidental overdose. A year later, she was embroiled in a scandal for violating lockdown rules and months later, her father passed away from cancer.

After her boyfriend died, Lola sought help for “unhealthy coping mechanisms.” From there, Lola picked herself up and created a charity to help those struggling with mental health and addiction.

In 2022, Cara Delevingne also turned her back on alcohol, saying she reflected on her mental health issues and battle with addiction after raising concerns with a series of problematic public appearances.

Speaking to Fashion When she appeared on the cover of The Dark Side of the Moon magazine in April last year, she confessed that she wasn’t “ready” to face her demons until she fell into a “bad place.”

She explained: “I’ve had interventions of some kind, but I wasn’t prepared. That’s the problem.”

“I hadn’t been to a therapist in three years. I just kind of shut myself off from everyone, which made me realize how bad I was.”

Disturbing footage from September 2022 showed the 30-year-old looking nervous and anxious outside Van Nuys Airport as she wandered around in dirty socks and no shoes.

The photos sparked concern among his fans for his health, as he appeared with sunken, dark eyes while smoking a pipe somewhere in his car.

Cara continued: ‘I always thought that work should be done when times are bad, but actually work should be done when times are good.

“The work has to be done consistently. It will never be completely fixed or cured, but I’m okay with that and that’s the difference.”

Her well-being had been at the forefront of her friends and family’s concerns last year after she was photographed behaving erratically on several occasions.

The model explained that she had been lying to herself about her health and it wasn’t until she saw herself in the airport photos that she realized she needed help.

“I didn’t sleep. I didn’t feel good,” she explained. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at one point I was like, ‘Well, I don’t look good.'”

“You know, sometimes you need a dose of reality, so in a way those photos were something to be thankful for.”

She confessed that she had many “superficial” relationships because she contained her emotions so as not to “overwhelm” anyone and for fear of abandonment.

“If you ask any of my friends, they’ll tell you they’ve never seen me cry,” she confessed.

‘Starting in September, all I needed was support. I needed to start looking for someone. And my old friends, who I’ve known since I was 13, all came over and we started crying. They looked at me and said, ‘You deserve a chance to be happy.’

Through her work in therapy, Cara realized she needed to stop chasing the idea of a “quick fix” to healing and committed to following the 12-step program.

She explained: ‘Before, I was always looking for the quick fix to healing, going on a week-long retreat or a trauma course, for example, and that would help me for a moment, but it never really got to the heart of the matter, to the deeper things.’

Although Cara has accepted the fact that her journey will not be easy, she says she has a hard time accepting the fact that strangers don’t understand her.

She shared her frustrations with people simplifying her struggles, noting that her recovery won’t happen “overnight” and she’s aware it will be a lifelong commitment.

She explained: ‘This process obviously has its ups and downs, but I’ve started to realise a lot of things. People want my story to be some sort of after-school special where I’m just like, ‘Oh look, I was an addict and now I’m sober and that’s it.’

“And it’s not that simple. It doesn’t happen overnight… Of course I want things to be instantaneous; I think this particular generation wants things to happen quickly, but I’ve had to dig deeper.”

A year later, Cara has created a non-alcoholic prosecco with her sisters.

Non-alcoholic prosecco is described as having ‘attractive aromas of red fruits, with a fresh and clean mouthfeel, a distinctive and complex flavour profile, delicate in both colour and flavour’.

Della Vite’s Prosecco Superiore DOCG (which stands for Designation of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) has been awarded Italy’s highest wine classification.

The sisters have worked in partnership with the Biasiotto family, who have been producing superior sparkling wines for over three generations, with their winery located in the Valdobbiadene Valley, a high altitude area, within the Prosecco Region in Northern Italy.

Della Vite is available to buy nationwide from dellavite.com and Selfridges for £25 for DOCG and £20 for DOC. The new non-alcoholic version costs £14.99.

Della Vite is also available at Wild by Tart, Brasserie of Light, Treehouse Hotel London, Sea Containers and Casa Cruz.
