Lady Gaga’s father says he never believed the woman who claimed to have found his daughter’s stolen dogs after their walker was shot when she appeared in court.

“I thought it was unusual when they got the call that this woman found the dogs tied to a stake, you know, that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard,” Joe Germanotta said. Additional when asked about Jennifer McBride, 50.

Germanotta, the owner of the Joanne Trattoria eatery in Manhattan, responded Friday to news that McBride – who was returning the Poker Face singer’s stolen French bulldogs – had been arrested along with four others in Los Angeles. She and her co-defendants were charged Thursday, and McBride has now been released on bail.

The motive for the Feb. 24 robbery, according to researchers, was the value of the French bulldogs – which could be as high as thousands of dollars.

Joe Germanotta, Lady Gaga's father, says he never believed the story that the woman who found his daughter's abducted dogs after the singer's dog walker was shot and injured happened to find them on the street.

The dog walker, Ryan Fischer, is recovering from a gunshot wound and has called the violence “ very close to death ” in social media posts.

He was walking Lady Gaga’s three dogs – named Asia, Koji and Gustav – in Hollywood, just off the famous Sunset Boulevard, when he was attacked.

Police arrested James Jackson, 18; Jaylin White, 19; and Lafayette Whaley, 27, in connection with the violence.

They are charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and second-degree robbery, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

The three are described by police as documented gang members, who targeted the bulldogs because they knew their high worth. When purchased from reputable breeders, the animals can cost between $ 3,000 and $ 5,000.

McBride is charged with bringing the dogs back after Gaga offered a half-million dollar reward for their safe return.

The gang accused of stealing them would not have known who the valuable pedigree pets belonged to when they performed the dog snap.

Jackson, who authorities say was the shooter, is also charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm and a criminal carrying a hidden firearm in a vehicle.

White faces one assault of violence that is likely to cause serious bodily harm.

The dogs were returned to an LAPD station two days after their abduction by a woman who originally appeared to be “ uninvolved and unassociated ” with the crime, police said initially.

The woman, identified as McBride on Thursday, reported finding the dogs and responded to an email address linked to the reward, police said.

McBride was found to have a relationship with the father of one of the suspects, the LAPD said Thursday.

It was not immediately clear whether she had received the reward. All suspects have pleaded not guilty.

“ What amazes me is that the LAPD has stayed with them and they got these guys, we were hoping they would catch them and what they did to Ryan was just awful and he’s still recovering, ” Germanotta said.

“He still has to undergo physical therapy.”

Germanotta added: ‘[Fischer is] really great boy he loves those dogs … those animals he takes them everywhere he is their trainer for five to seven years …

“He’s been with them for a long time and I just think it’s remarkable that this is coming to an end, I just hope someone in LA actually sues these kids.”

Gaga’s father said he hopes the court proceedings will end in convictions.

This was attempted murder. I hope they don’t let them take to the streets again, ”said Germanotta.

“I just can’t believe someone pulled out a gun and shot someone over dogs, stole dogs, that’s just beyond me.”

Investigators don’t believe the thieves initially knew the dogs belonged to the pop star, Los Angeles police said in a statement.

Germanotta agrees with the LAPD’s assessment.

“The French bulldogs are very popular now, they get thousands of dollars on the black market,” he said.

‘They think it was a ring. I’m pretty sure they didn’t know it was Lady Gaga’s dogs, how would you know?

“They don’t walk around with diamonds around their necks?”

Video from the doorbell camera of a nearby house shows a white sedan standing up and two men jumping out.

They struggled with Fischer and one pulled a gun and fired a single shot before fleeing with two of the dogs, Koji and Gustav.

The video captured Fischer’s screaming, ‘Oh, my God! I was shot! ‘and’ Help me! ‘ and “I’m bleeding from my chest!”

Lady Gaga offered a $ 500,000 reward – “no questions asked” – to be reunited with the dogs.

The singer was in Rome at the time to shoot a movie.

All five were each held on $ 1 million bail, according to online prison reports.

Lady Gaga did not immediately talk about the arrests on her social media accounts on Thursday afternoon.

Fischer and Lady Gaga representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
