This is the moment a mayor’s pants fall off while giving a speech in Colombia.
Jorge Chams, who recently lost weight, was addressing attendees at an event to mark the anniversary of a learning center in the city of Sabanalarga on Tuesday when the error was caught on camera.
Chams could be seen gripping the lectern with his right hand while reaching down with his left to grab his pants.
A woman standing near him came over to help him readjust his pants while he laughed at his own mistake.

Jorge Chams was mayor of Sabanalarga from 2016 to 2019 and returned to office after defeating three rivals in the October elections.
Meanwhile, several priests laugh in the background as another gives him a warm hand after the event’s master of ceremonies said: “Applause for the mayor, applause.”
Chams then whispered to the woman as they tried to tuck his dress shirt in to make sure his pants wouldn’t fall off his waist again.
“This will go down in history,” he joked. “Today I lost eight kilos.”
Local media reported that he joined a weight loss program in recent months. Eight kilos are equivalent to about 17 pounds.

Jorge Chams stated that he has lost “eight kilos” since joining a weight loss program. That equals about 17 pounds.
Chams previously served as mayor from 2016 to 2019 and defeated three rivals in the October 2023 election to become mayor again.
He came under scrutiny in December 2018 when the Attorney General’s Office alleged that his office had committed irregularities with a $300,0000 public works contract that had been completed.
The contractor who obtained the contract never fulfilled the agreement to pave one of the city’s streets, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The Chams administration also failed to confront the contractor and impose sanctions and fines, as required by law.
