A Utah mother added an unusual new twist to the ‘Karen’ phenomenon by unleashing her foul-mouthed tantrum while carrying a baby.
Hundreds of fans had turned out to watch Cedar High School take on local rivals Dixie High in a highly charged late-season lacrosse game when the young mother pulled the trigger.
‘You’re a dirty little bitch. I see it in your face,’ he said to an opponent while he looked at them out of the corner of his eye, showing his teeth.
‘How can you hold your baby and say you’re a piece of shit?’ the target demanded of him.
‘Why don’t you get your hair done?’ —replied the elegantly dressed mother.
More than nine million people have watched the Utah mom join the pantheon of Karens after videos of her meltdown at the Cedar City lacrosse game were posted on TikTok.
A young referee was among those who faced her fury as she tried to steer her away from the game between local rivals Cedar High and Dixie High.
Emotions were already running high in the play-off game in Cedar City with fights between players on the field.
The tension seemed to be transmitted to the spectators, with another mother filmed running to the front of the stands, kicking a fence and shouting, apparently at her son: ‘Gary, get on the damn field!’, before a young man appeared in the frame .
A third incident-filled video of the game showed the original mother, still hugging her apparently unconscious baby, protesting to a young referee and attempting to knock the phone out of a spectator’s hand.
“You look like a piece of shit,” she said to an invisible opponent as the referee warns her that she’s talking to a minor and tries to persuade her to leave the field.
‘Oh, so I can’t tell him he’s a piece of shit?’ she demands.
“Bro, she’s from Cedars,” an onlooker quietly warns as she insists she’ll wait for her brother.
The videos have attracted more than nine million views on TikTok alone since Shmillyeahn posted them two days ago.
Commenters were unimpressed by her lack of calm while caring for a child and some accused her of showing typical ‘Karen’ entitlement.
Reddit commenters were not impressed with the young mother’s behavior.
“Someone needs to call CPS for child endangerment,” one wrote. ‘Assaulting people while she is holding her child, putting them in danger.’
He’s using the baby as a shield to keep him from getting beat up! suggested another.
“Talking to other people, kids, that way.”
“It’s crazy that women think they can walk up and hit phones, people, etc. without consequences,” a third added.
On Reddit, a poster named LordOfTheBurrito claimed to know the background, explaining that “Cedar and Dixie have been rivals for decades across all sports.”
‘Dixie won the lacrosse championship last year and never lost a game to Cedar.
‘In this game, Cedar beat Dixie and eliminated them from the play-offs.
‘One of Cedar’s parents assaulted a Dixie player and the police had to be called, he literally punched the boy.
“For the championship game, state athletics contacted Cedar and Snow Canyon about the behavior and some parents were prohibited from attending.”
Some of those who attended reportedly wore t-shirts emblazoned with the slogan ‘Gary, get out on the fucking field!’
Some commenters suggested that lacrosse itself is especially stimulating for parents because the sport allows children to hit each other with sticks.
Some on TikTok were more understanding, but most called her reckless and entitled.
Others lamented the behavior of parents at any sporting event.
“I was a truck driver for 27 years,” one wrote.
‘I retired and worked at a Catholic secondary school for eight years. I was completely amazed by the language parents would use at sporting events.’
