Bombshell as Rupert Murdoch’s son Lachlan drops defamation lawsuit against Australian news website – days after News Corp’s $1.2 billion settlement with Dominion
Rupert Murdoch’s son, Lachlan, has dropped his libel lawsuit against Australian news website Crikey.
The media scion alleged that the independent website defamed him in June 2022, when an article written by the political editor, Bernard Keane, called the Murdoch family “unindicted co-conspirators” in the January 6, 2021 riots at the US Capitol .
In a statement Friday morning, Murdoch’s lawyer, John Churchill, said he had filed a cease and desist notice with the Federal Court of Australia.
“Mr Murdoch remains confident that the courts will ultimately find him in his favour,” Churchill said.
It comes just days after News Corp settled a separate lawsuit with polling agency Dominion for $AUD 1.6 billion (USD $787.5 million).
