The grieving partner of a worker who died in a horrific workplace accident has opened up about losing his “whole person”.
Lachlan Carslake, 28, suffered serious head injuries while operating machinery at Nylastex Engineering Solutions in Adelaide’s south-west last Wednesday.
He was rushed to Flinders Medical Centre where he was put on life support but died three days later surrounded by his loved ones.
His partner, Tahlia Benvegnu-Carslake, has expressed her grief in a series of heartbreaking posts on social media.
She also shared heartbreaking photos of their final moments together by his hospital bed.
“I lost my person, my Lachlan, my forever,” Ms Benvegnu-Carslake began.
“This isn’t fair. How am I supposed to do this? He wasn’t my other half, he’s my whole person, he knows me better than I know myself.
‘I will never be able to hold his hand, hug him, kiss him, feel his warmth, his security.

Devastated Carslake couple Tahlia Benvegnu-Carslake wrote about their grief in a series of heartbreaking Facebook posts.
“I’ll never be able to hear him say ‘I love you so much, baby’ or talk to him and hear him respond again. How am I supposed to do this now?”
In another touching post, she admitted she still hopes Mr Carslake will walk through the door, even though he is no longer around.
“I miss holding your hand, I miss your hugs. I miss talking to you and listening to you talk. I have to lay alone in our bed, it hurts,” she wrote.
Ms Benvegnu-Carslake wrote about the things they won’t be able to do together.
“I can’t travel with you, explore with you, fish with you, grow old with you.”

Addressing Mr Carslake, he added: “You can’t live all the life you have ahead of you, achieve all the things you wanted to achieve, our plans and dreams.”
Ms Benvegnu-Carslake ended her post by mourning the tragic loss of her partner.
“Life is cruel and it keeps moving forward around you while you just wish you could turn back time.”
TO GoFundMe It has been set up to support Mr Carslake’s family “as they go through this heartbreaking time”.
The page revealed that Mr Carslake’s legacy will live on as he has agreed to be an organ donor.
The GoFundMe says the funds raised will support the family’s living expenses in Adelaide as they “support the ongoing investigation and planning for her funeral.”
“Any additional funds will ease the financial burden of weekly outgoing bills at this more than devastating time.”
The page has raised nearly $9,500 in just a few days.
SafeWork South Australia has launched an investigation into the workplace, which has been closed after a series of regulatory notices were issued.
A report will also be prepared for the coroner.
