Sunrisers Hyderabad posted their highest ever IPL total of 277 for 3 against Mumbai Indians before registering a 31-run win in a power-hitting match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, leaving bowlers on both sides in disarray. Left-handed SRH batsman Abhishek Sharma was also among the batters who shone on the match day. Abhishek scored 63 runs off 23 balls with the help of 3 fours and 7 sixes. He reached his half-century in 16 balls, which is now the fastest by any SRH batter in IPL history.

Despite his stunning knock, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who also happens to be Abhishek’s idol and mentor, scolded the player for the manner in which he was dismissed.

It was a quick short ball from Piyush Chawal that saw Abhishek pulled into the air before Naman Dhir completed the catch at deep mid-wicket.

“Waah Mr. Abhishek waah, great innings but what a beautiful shot to get out! Laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahi moonte! Special (slipper emoji) waiting for you now @IamAbhiSharma4,” Yuvraj wrote on X.

Young left-handed batsman Abhishek said the message from the team management was quite simple: “Go out and express yourself” as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Mumbai Indians in an IPL match that saw records tumble down like pins.

“Honestly, I didn’t realize that this was the fastest fifty for SRH and for this year. I just wanted to start expressing myself and after getting out I realized that this was the fastest. I enjoyed it,” said ‘Man of the Match’ Sharma after the match.

“I think the message was pretty much simple for all the batters in the meeting we had before this game. ‘Everybody, just go and speak your mind’. That’s a very positive message when you get it from your captain and coach. That’s really supportive for all the hitters.”
