LA Times columnist Ben Bolch apologized for his op-ed in which he referred to the LSU women’s basketball team as “dirty rookies” ahead of their Elite Eight matchup with Iowa.

Bolch issued a statement on

‘Words matter. As a journalist, no one should know this more than me. However, I have failed miserably in the choice of my words,” Bolch wrote.

“Now I can see why the words I used were wrong,” he continued. “I didn’t mean any harm, but now I understand that I failed terribly.”
