LA Rams in talks to trade Super Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey as team continues to settle salary cap following release of Bobby Wagner
Los Angeles Rams has held trade talks for superstar cornerback Jalen Ramsey and he is expected to be traded “in the coming weeks.” according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Ramsey, 28, owes $17 million in 2023 on a front-loaded deal averaging $20 million and LA appears to be in pay cap clearing mode following the release of Bobby Wagner.
Rams COO Kevin Demoff recently hinted, “I think for all of our players it’s about figuring out what’s best to move forward…but we couldn’t be more grateful to Jalen for what he’s done for the Rams leading this defense.” .’
Ramsey also appeared to allude to his departure in January when he posted a tweet saying, “It is what it is! It was what it was! If that’s the end of it, I went out with a BANG! Still THAT!’ as a caption to several photos and videos of himself in Rams gear.
The six-time Pro Bowler still plays at the elite level, which is why he was such a critical part of the Rams’ 2021 Super Bowl winning season.

Ramsey was still playing on the field at an elite level and was recently named to the Pro Bowl
He amassed 88 tackles, 18 pass breakups and four interceptions last year and started all 17 games of the season.
LA seems a long way from glory, however, the two-year Super Bowl glory goes after finishing the season with a 5-12 record and is in dire need of a salary cap.
About the cap also has the Rams with minus – $14.9 million in space on Friday.
With a long list of holes to fill a corner back, it’s too much of a luxury for the team to make as much money as Ramsey, no matter how good he is.
LA is also questioning the most important and expensive position of quarterback.
Matthew Stafford’s future remains uncertain due to injuries and backup QB Baker Mayfield becomes a free agent.
