Kylie Minogue has revealed details of her participation in Neighbours.
The singer and actress saw her career take off while playing mechanic Charlene Robinson between 1986 and 1988.
Despite being skilled with cars on the show, in real life the 56-year-old has no such skills.
“I think I almost blew up my car,” he told Nova 96.9. Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Tuesday.
‘My dad was really embarrassed and I was playing mechanic (on Neighbours). I forgot petrol and water when I got home and my Datsun was smoking everywhere.’
Kylie said she took her old pump on a few road trips between filming the show.
“I probably took it to Lorne, but mostly I was singing it on the set of Neighbours at 6.30 in the morning on Ramsay Street with my script kicking around in the passenger seat and learning as I went,” he said.
When asked if she had any memories of kissing her on-screen love interest (and real-life ex-boyfriend), Jason Donovan, in the car, Kylie played coy.

“I wouldn’t reveal something like that… Well, maybe I did!” he joked.
Donovan has admitted that his romance with Kylie was “full” and that the pop princess was his first real relationship.
The couple, who met as teenagers and starred in the soap opera Neighbours, separated in 1989.
The pair returned for the soap’s finale in 2022, reprising their characters Charlene and Scott Robinson.
Residents returned to a new platform, Amazon Freevee, in September 2023.

Meanwhile, Kylie has sent fans into a frenzy by accidentally confirming an upcoming Australian tour in a surprise radio announcement.
The pop superstar last toured Australia with her Golden Tour in March 2019, and is now preparing for another series of concerts in the country.
She let the news slip during an appearance on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick on Monday, where she was asked about rumours of an Australian tour.
After initially being hesitant, Kylie has confirmed she will be returning to the country for her first Australian tour in more than five years.
“I wouldn’t reveal something like that… Well, maybe I did!” he joked.
When Brendan Fevola asked her the burning question, Kylie responded uncertainly: —Uh… I mean yes. Yes. The answer is yes! We’re just finalizing the details.
“Maybe I didn’t want to say that, but yes,” she added, although she remained coy about the dates of the upcoming tour.
The singer went on to say that her “dream” is to fill the iconic 100,000-capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground during her upcoming tour.
“That’s another dream. One day it will be amazing, for sure,” she said enthusiastically, and Fev assured her that she would “certainly” be able to fill the place.
“Well, if you invite all your friends! You guys are so popular,” Kylie joked in response.
Earlier this year rumours began circulating that Kylie was planning an Australian tour after her headline show, Splendour In The Grass, was cancelled.
