Kylian Mbappé scored in his first game since his move to Real Madrid was announced and the French star made sure to dedicate his goal to his late uncle.

Mbappe’s uncle Alex recently passed away, leaving the 25-year-old heartbroken.

In a post on Instagram earlier this week, Mbappé wrote: “Rest in peace Uncle Alex. It’s hard to find the words to say how much you left us too soon and how much we will miss you.

‘Life will never be the same without you. Your family will be taken care of, you can be sure of that. May God open the doors of heaven for you.’

Mbappé’s move to Madrid was also confirmed on Monday and all eyes were on him as Les Blues prepared for Euro 2023.

The former PSG player scored France’s third in a 3-0 win over Luexmbourg on Wednesday and proceeded to reveal a t-shirt with Alex’s face and the words “Rest in Peace, Uncle.”

It was a successful goal from the Frenchman, who found the bottom corner with a first-time shot after a pass from Bradley Barcola.

Mbappé had already assisted the first two goals of the afternoon, the first by Randal Kolo Muani and the second by Jonathan Clauss.

France will play Canada on Sunday in Bordeaux in their final warm-up match before Euro 2024 begins on June 14.

France will face Austria on June 17 before facing the Netherlands on June 21 and Poland four days later.
