Kylian Mbappe was booed by spectators when he arrived Monday at the Ballon d’Or event honoring the world’s best football talent in his home city of Paris.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker was disturbed when he stepped into the Theater du Chatelet, amid reports he plans to leave the club in January, just months after signing a new contract with the Parisians.
Mbappé’s future in Paris has been the subject of intense speculation. Recent reports suggested the 23-year-old wanted to leave the Ligue 1 champions as soon as possible and even considered ending his contract to do so.

Despite winning the World Cup with France and being one of the next-generation talents in modern football, Mbappé was scolded by locals who saw superstars arrive at the glamorous event.
He was booed by fans when he arrived with his father at the ceremony, with booing audible as the Frenchman made his way past waiting fans, fist bumping one person before continuing into the venue to pose for photos.
A video posted by the official Ballon d’Or Twitter account showing Mbappé arriving has been viewed more than a million times, with loud cheers as the star makes his way down the red carpet.
Mbappé reportedly wants to leave the French side in January
Mbappé cuts an uneasy figure under an umbrella as deafening cries follow him all the way into the theater, with the star’s father accompanying him for photos.
Things didn’t get much better for Mbappe as he finished sixth in the standings for the annual award, with Karim Benzema taking home the trophy after his stellar season with Real Madrid.
Mbappe dispelled rumors he wanted to leave PSG on Sunday following his side’s 1-0 win over Marseille, where he admitted he was “happy” at the club.
‘I am very happy. I never asked for my departure in January,” he said RMC Sports.
“The info that came out on the day of the match (against Benfica) II did not understand. I was just as shocked as everyone else.
But has maintained that he has never asked to leave the club in January and is committed to PSG
