PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe has confirmed that he will sign a new three-year deal with the club, ending his ongoing contract saga.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of debate in recent weeks over where he will play his football next season, with his current contract in France coming to an end in the summer.

Despite Real Madrid matching the terms offered by his current club, Mbappé has announced his decision to commit his future to PSG.

Following the Frenchman’s decision, LaLiga has written an extraordinary statement detailing its intentions to report PSG’s actions to UEFA and the French authorities.

The Spanish league says it will file a complaint because it believes the terms of Mbappe’s new contract at PSG “threatens the economic sustainability of European football.”

Mbappé’s mother, Fayza Lamari, confirmed on Friday that the 23-year-old had concluded talks with both clubs about “almost identical” offers.

The Whites had made their interest in Mbappe clear last summer when they submitted a final £154m bid for Ligue 1’s top scorer in a bid to lure him away from Paris.

Although the club rejected the proposal, it was widely anticipated that the French star would join Carlo Ancelotti’s team a year later after he refused to renew his contract with PSG.

However, Mbappé has taken a surprising turn in his contractual saga and has now announced his decision to sign a new three-year deal at the club.

The news may not surprise some as Madrid manager Florentino Perez already informed his team on Friday that Mbappé would not be joining the team, a source told Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Balagué appeared to suggest that Madrid and PSG were willing to pay Mbappé a signing fee of 150 million euros, around £126.7m, along with salaries and bonuses.

Mbappé’s mother, Lamari, confirmed it in statements to Kora Plus: “We have reached an agreement with both Real Madrid and PSG and the discussions are over because now it is Kylian who has to choose.”

The two offers, the one from PSG and the one from Real, are almost identical. In the Real, my son will have control of his image rights. Now we will wait for his decision.

In Real Madrid’s offer we have full power of image rights, instead there is an economic balance that rewards this. In short, there is no difference between the two, they are similar.

A report on Thursday said the French champions had offered Mbappe £4m a month and “full control” of the club’s sporting project.

The World Cup winner has only been at PSG since 2017 but already boasts an impressive goal tally of 168, just 23 goals behind Edinson Cavani on the all-time top scorers list for the French giants.

During his time in Paris, he won four Ligue 1 titles and three Coupe de France trophies, as well as being crowned UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the 2021/22 campaign.
