- Phil Foden has been a breakthrough for Manchester City so far this season
- The 20-year-old spent a long time on the fringe of other world-class stars
- Kyle Walker has hailed the midfielder as the best young talent he has ever seen
- The right back said he ‘jumps forward’ where Tottenham star Harry Kane was
Kyle Walker has named Manchester City star Phil Foden as the best youngster he has ever seen, saying the 20-year-old ‘has an edge’ over where former teammate Harry Kane was that age.
Foden has risen through the ranks of the club in Manchester and is starting to show its class after waiting patiently for a run in the first team.
The talented midfielder has supported world-class talents like Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva and Bernardo Silva, but has been rewarded with more minutes since Project Restart, scoring four times and assisting once.

Foden has been a key part of a solid return to action for Pep Guardiola’s men, and Walker has hailed the 20-year-old as the best he’s seen at that age, even better than some of his former teammates at Tottenham.
“He’s the best youngster I’ve ever seen,” said the city’s right wing official club website.
That’s after playing at Tottenham with people like Harry Kane, Ryan Mason, Andros Townsend, Steven Caulker, Harry Winks, who are very, very good players. Phil is a leap ahead of me just because of his knowledge of the game. ‘
Despite having played a minor role in the past two seasons, Foden has been able to learn his game with some of the world’s top midfielders and a world-class manager, which Walker thinks has been ahead of the rest.

“I don’t know if it’s because he’s constantly watching and learning from David Silva, or just his knowledge of the game,” Walker added.
“I think if he just improves his last ball, his assistance and his final decision on that, I think it will come with experience. As a player and as a person he is top class and I wish him the very best in everything he does, because he deserves it all. ‘
Foden’s best season to date includes seven goals and nine assists totaling 33 appearances, as well as a man-of-the-match display in City’s Carabao Cup Final win over Aston Villa.

The youngster is expected to take over from Silva when the Spaniard departs in the summer, ending a hugely successful appointment at the North-West Club.
Walker spent eight seasons with Spurs, but left to go to City in 2017, where he won six major trophies, including two Premier League titles.
