Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo from Barb and Star in live-action movie Cinderella Evil Stepsisters for Disney
Bridesmaids writers Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are teaming up with Disney for a live-action Cinderella movie Evil Stepsisters.
Per Deadline the unnamed project is in early development, but will be a reinvented take on the classic fairytale, seen through the eyes of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters.
The ‘fairytale musical comedy’ is co-written by the actresses from Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar who also received an Oscar nod for the screenplay by Bridesmaids.

The project will be produced by Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum from Gloria Sanchez productions.
The film’s plot will revolve around stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella Tremaine struggling to uphold their family legacy after Cinderella’s wedding.
While Wiig and Mumolo have been known to appear in their co-written films, it is currently unknown if they will star in any particular capacity.
Wiig first rose to fame as a player on Saturday Night Live, and Mumolo has enjoyed memorable performances in such comedies as Bad Moms and Judd Apatow’s This Is Forty.

Deadline sources revealed that although beloved on screen, the ladies plan to cast younger actresses in the role of the evil stepsisters. They can still appear as peripheral characters.
The project is part of Disney’s effort to spotlight the villains of their beloved classics.
Emma Stone will play the role of 101 Dalmatian antagonist Cruella de Vil in Cruella, which will be released on May 28.
In addition, with live action Beauty And The Beast, Josh Gad and Luke Evans will reprise their roles as Gaston and LeFou in a prequel series to Disney Plus.
