A Canadian real estate agent has completed a massive renovation of two historic homes on a remote island accessible only by boat to her family’s vacation home.
Cailey Heaps, 47, bought the two white houses originally built in 1912 and 1914 on a property with three sheds, a small cemetery and an outhouse in Salvage, Newfoundland, a small town with a population of about 100, for $173,000. Dollars.
After closing in March 2022, real estate brokerage leader Heaps Estrin embarked on a restoration project that she estimated would cost $184,000, the price of which ended up nearly quadrupling.
Heaps enlisted Reflect Architecture, a Toronto-based studio led by Trevor Wallace, to help with the project and found that the age of the property was not on its side.

The kitchens in both homes are made of Baltic birch plywood and butcher block, and the interiors are clad primarily in white shiplap.

When the renovation was completed in May 2023, the project cost a total of $735,000.
