Vanessa Bryant reveals that late husband Kobe Bryant once bought her an iconic Sex and the City Carrie dress … as he previously admitted to finding the classic show ‘informative’
Vanessa Bryant has revealed that the late husband Kobe Bryant once bought her a dress similar to that of actress Sarah Jessica Parker in an iconic episode of Sex and the City, as a romantic gesture.
NBA legend Kobe died this year at the age of 41 after a helicopter he drove crashed and killed eight other people, including their 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
Earlier in 2012, Kobe admitted that he caught ‘Carrie Fever’ and loved watching the HBO show with his wife Vanessa, 38, who shared an emotional Instagram post on Monday explaining that she recently had the mermaid green tutu outfit had found.

Love: Kobe admitted earlier in 2012 that he had caught ‘Carrie Fever’ and loved watching the HBO show with his wife Vanessa (the pair pictured above in 2005)
Strangely, Kobe revealed his love for Sex and the City – which ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004 and spawned two successful films – when he wrote an essay for iVillage on the importance of voting in 2012.
While the sportsman wrote passionately about encouraging people to vote, he then focused the topic on his wife Vanessa and how they both enjoyed watching the show together.
Hinting that the series had opened his mind, he said that while he liked watching ESPN, it was ‘Carrie Fever’ (Sex and the City) for [Vanessa] adding: ‘Yes, I watched the show and loved it … It was quite’ informative ‘.
Meanwhile, it wasn’t immediately clear whether the dress Kobe bought his wife was a recreation of the show’s dress or the same design.
Sarah Jessica Parker and costume designer Patricia Field were known for combining designer labels with thrift store finds when it came to dressing the character for the show.
Kobe and Vanessa married in April 2001 when he was 22 and she was 18.
Together they have four children: Gianna, 13, who was murdered with her father, Natalia, 17, three-year-old Bianka and one-year-old Capri.
