If you’re going to ask George Kittle a question Or if you dare to step into a 49ers practice, you better make sure you’re wearing your best pair of sneakers.
Otherwise, you risk being called out. 49ers star tight end.
That’s exactly what happened to the unfortunate group of media members at San Francisco’s practice on Wednesday, who fell victim to Kittle’s harsh criticism of kicking during his media availability.
“I know you guys watch us all the time, but there’s a special teams period where I catch balls and I can watch you,” Kittle said. “And you guys really need to step up your sneaker game. It’s absolutely atrocious. I have Vomeros, they’re great. And Grant (Cohn) (of SI.com) wears Vans every day. New Balance? They look like Vans. Yeah, those are Vans. That’s fine. But you wear them every day. You have to change them up.”
“But I look at all of your shoes and I’m disappointed in you as a community. So if we could make them better, please. You’re eighth graders, let’s figure this out together.”
While Kittle is used to the media judging and criticizing him and his teammates during practice, he was the one who pulled the card from the back of Uno and did the analysis.
At least media members will have a few weeks to get their footwear up before the start of the 2024 NFL season.
Kittle will be watching.
