Police were called to the scene of the Joy Thai restaurant on Monday, where a 26-year-old man died after being stabbed.

A man has been charged with murder after being accused of breaking into a north Queensland unit and repeatedly stabbing someone.

Lar Sue, 31, is on remand after her matter appeared in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Sue is accused of forcing entry into the Kirwan unit attached to Joy Thai restaurant after 4.30pm on Monday before allegedly repeatedly stabbing a 26-year-old man she knew, leaving a “violent scene”.

The man was treated by emergency services but died at the property.

Police were called to the scene of the Joy Thai restaurant on Monday, where a 26-year-old man died after being stabbed.

He suffered multiple wounds to his torso and police confiscated a knife in the unit.

“It’s certainly a violent scene,” Acting Detective Inspector Chris Caswell told reporters on Tuesday.

“We have confiscated an item that we suspect is the item involved.”

Police said a woman was in the unit at the time and witnessed the attack.

She was not injured and was not a suspect, Inspector Caswell said.

“He’s with the detectives today in the investigation process, but as you can imagine, it’s obviously a confrontation… something to witness,” he said.

Sue has also been charged with entering a dwelling to commit a crime.

A duty lawyer appeared on Sue’s behalf when the case was mentioned in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The arraignment was adjourned on August 2 and Sue was remanded in custody.
