A “very drunk” Sydney mother on her way to pick up her children from school nearly crashed into a police car before returning a breathalyzer test result that was allegedly almost six times the legal limit.

Kirsten Samuel, 43, was charged with drink driving after allegedly attracting attention just 100 metres from her Baulkham Hills home on September 9.

Highway officers were patrolling the streets when they reportedly saw a silver Toyota Camry pulling out of a driveway on Conie Avenue and then nearly colliding with a police vehicle.

Police arrested Samuel and “it quickly became clear that she was very drunk,” he said.

She was given a breathalyzer test at the scene and allegedly came back with a result of 0.371, more than seven times over the legal limit, and told police she was on her way to pick up her son from school. The Telegraph newspaper reported.

Samuel was arrested and taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he was given a second breathalyzer test and the result was 0.269, still almost six times over the legal limit.

She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and her car keys were confiscated.

Samuel’s driver’s license was also suspended on the spot.

His initial reading was later shared by the New South Wales Traffic and Road Patrol Command on Facebook as a reminder to motorists not to drink and drive.

Samuel is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court next month.

It is known that this is the first time she has been charged with a drink driving offence.
