In a new cover interview with Variety, Kirsten Dunst recalled being invited to a childhood playdate with Woody Allen and Mia Farrow's daughter, Dylan Farrow.

Kirsten Dunst recalled being invited on a play date as a child with Woody Allen and Mia Farrow’s daughter, Dylan Farrow.

In the wake of Mia and Woody’s explosive separation, Dylan accused her father of sexually abusing her when she was seven, accusations he has strongly denied.

Years earlier, when Kirsten was six years old, she made her film debut as Mia’s daughter in the Woody segment of the 1989 anthology film New York Stories.

“I remember they wanted to send a car to New Jersey to pick me up and play with Dylan,” he revealed in a new cover interview with Variety.

“My mom told me, ‘I’m not sending my daughter in a limo to go play without me,'” Kirsten shared.

Dylan is three years younger than Kirsten, meaning the potential playdate would have likely occurred about four years before the alleged abuse.

Kirsten’s mother, Inez Rupprecht, a Lufthansa flight attendant, kept a close eye on her daughter as the little girl ventured into show business.

Inez and an acting teacher who became a father figure to Kirsten were able, for the most part, to protect her from the vicissitudes of Hollywood.

Even when Kirsten and her childhood friend Molly were strolling through the San Fernando Valley, Inez surreptitiously followed their trail to make sure they were safe.

‘We didn’t know that my mother would follow us in the car. “We were at Psychic Eye, a store on Ventura Boulevard, making angel cards and lighting candles,” she said.

However, when she was 16, Kirsten met with an unnamed director who she claims crossed a line verbally.

I once met with a director and he asked me an inappropriate question. And that was the only time. I was like, “That’s not right.” But I didn’t say that (to him). I panic. I didn’t know if he should respond or not,” he shared.

Kirsten also commented on the new docuseries Quiet On Set, which aired sexual abuse allegations against child stars on Nickelodeon.

‘It sounds very bad. There’s a lot of weird stuff going on and care,” said Kirsten, who became a star at age 12 thanks to the movie Interview with a Vampire.

During her career as a child actress, Kirsten also avoided the role of Mena Suvari in American Beauty, that of a teenager who becomes an object of desire for Kevin Spacey’s adult character.

‘I don’t know if I necessarily rejected it. I think I just turned down the meeting or something. But yeah, I just wasn’t comfortable with sexuality,” she said.

When she was 16, Kirsten agreed to star in Sofia Coppola’s directorial debut, The Virgin Suicides, overcoming her doubts about her sexual undertones.

“I was very nervous,” Kirsten revealed. “Because there’s a sequence where I’m making out with all these guys on the roof of the house.”

However, Sofia told her, “Don’t worry. You don’t have to make out with any of them. Just cover your hair and snuggle into their neck. We’ll make it all work.”

Sofia commented to the Variety article: “I always felt protective of her and sensitive to what it could be like for her and her being young.”

Woody and Mia came together in 1980, forming a romantic and professional team that gave the world films such as Crimes And Misdemeanors, Broadway Danny Rose, Zelig, Husbands And Wives and Hannah And Her Sisters.

However, their relationship burst into flames in the early 1990s, when Mia found what she called “pornographic” photographs of her adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn.

The discovery sparked a sensational custody battle that made headlines and took an especially dark turn when Woody and Mia’s adopted daughter, Dylan, accused her father of sexually abusing her when she was seven.

Woody has always strongly denied the accusations and Connecticut prosecutors allowed the case against him to be dismissed due to lack of evidence.

However, in 1993 a judge ruled that Woody’s “behavior toward Dylan was extremely inappropriate and that steps should be taken to protect her,” and the filmmaker lost custody of all of his children, including Ronan Farrow.

Woody, 88, married Soon-Yi, 53, in 1997 and the couple has remained together ever since through the ups and downs of their career.

The allegations against Woody came under renewed scrutiny in 2017 when the Me Too movement took off, fueled in part by Ronan’s expose of Harvey Weinstein.
