King Frederick of Denmark has unveiled his new signature, which shares an important detail with that of King Charles.

The royal, 55, ascended the throne earlier this month when her mother, Queen Margaret, abdicated, ending her 52-year reign.

Earlier this week, the Danish Royal Family’s official Instagram account posted a photo of a 100th birthday card signed by the new King.

The message read: “In a small town in North Jutland, a birthday boy turning 100 today receives, for the first time, a congratulation from His Majesty the King.”

The post went on to explain how King Frederick decided to continue this tradition of sending cards to the public celebrating their 100th, 105th and 110th birthdays.

In addition to this, King Frederick also reiterated how he will send his congratulations to couples celebrating their 60th, 65th, 70th and 75th wedding anniversaries.

Along with this, the Danish Royal Family published a photo of the birthday card, printed on white paper and with its number.

Below the printed congratulatory message, King Frederick debuted his new signature for the first time since becoming official monarch.

Like King Charles, the monarch signed his name with an ‘R’ for ‘Rex’, which is Latin for King.

Although Queen Mary’s new signature has not been revealed, it is assumed that she will also use the ‘R’, like Queen Camilla.

In September 2023, King Charles and Queen Camilla signed birthday cards for the United Kingdom’s oldest living man and woman. John celebrated his 111th birthday this summer, while Ethel turned 114.

Shortly after the Queen’s death in September 2022, Buckingham Palace revealed the new royal cipher, which features the initials of King Charles’s name and the title Rex, as well as the Roman numeral III.

Earlier this month, the Danish royals shared an intimate and very revealing behind-the-scenes look at King Frederick’s proclamation.
