They were all smiles as they chatted with supporters and were greeted by people holding Danish and local flags, with stunning green hills in the background.

Frederik X, 56, and his wife Mary, 52, smiled for photos in matching raincoat outfits as they explored the south of the island.

The royalty Instagram The account revealed that the couple arrived yesterday and spent the night in the region, where Norse explorer Erik the Red’s ship landed more than 1,000 years ago.

The couple walked to the village along Kongevejen, a gravel road leading from Itilleq to Igaliku, named after Frederick IX, who visited in 1952, and renowned for its stunning views.

They both looked ready for action in their hiking outfits as they walked through the countryside.

Mary showed off her sporty style in dark green trousers, paired with an elegant cream-coloured button-down shirt.

Her brown hair was initially styled in loose waves, but the Queen later gathered her hair into a bun.

She kept her makeup sophisticated as always, with a luminous base and glamorous smoky eyes.

Meanwhile, Frederik put on black hiking pants and a light brown hoodie for the hike.

At first, the couple wore matching sweaters (Mary’s in forest green, Frederik’s in khaki), but they took them off when the temperature rose.

The Danish royal family has been travelling around Greenland since last week. Yesterday, Mary visited a sustainable children’s institution in Nuuk called Naasut, which means “flower” in Greenlandic.

The organisation works with the Mary Foundation’s anti-bullying programme called ‘Free From Bullying’, which has been implemented in the Faroe Islands, Estonia, Iceland, Romania, France and Greenland.

Mary looked every bit the queen in a chic white long-sleeved pleated blouse that she tucked into black skinny jeans.

She wore her shiny brown hair down, blow-dried and wavy, and opted for natural makeup with a touch of eyeliner and mascara.

In one sweet snap, Mary is seen kneeling down to sit with the children on the floor, as one of them holds a small purple teddy bear in front of her face.

The youngsters were accompanied by the mother of four children while a nursery school teacher held up a colourful book to attract their attention.

Mary was pictured sitting in a chair and appeared to be listening intently as she smiled at the children in the classroom.

The duo, who became King and Queen earlier this year, looked like a happy couple as soon as they landed in Greenland last week.

As one of their first activities, the family visited a whale-microphone viewing platform in Qeqertarsuaq.
