Queen Mary and King Frederick celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in Norway last week, but no one would have known it.
The couple worked out their platinum anniversary, and viewers said King Frederik mentioned the weather or veered off to a different topic when asked about the big day.
Just two days later, Queen Mary was seen heading to Oslo Airport alone, while her husband remained aboard the royal yacht, taking the time to return home to his crew.
The couple’s only public nod to the wedding anniversary was an Instagram post showing them sailing to Norway.
They smiled at the camera in their matching padded vests in the lovely photo, but the pictures taken as they sailed towards Norway looked much chillier.

This photograph was taken hours later and shows a very different atmosphere on the yacht as they sailed towards Norway.
Speaking to Danish tabloid BT, communications expert Anna Thygesen said the couple probably ignored benign questions about their anniversary for fear it would lead to a more complicated conversation.
“They actually have no interest in talking about their wedding day. I don’t understand how they avoid it. And it seems very planned that they don’t want to talk about it,” he said.
‘In fact, I think it’s a consequence of the closure. Because if you answer this fairly harmless question, then you might also be forced to answer something they don’t want to deal with – all the crises there could be – so they just shut down completely.’

The day after their platinum anniversary, the popular royal family headed to the Norwegian Ulsrudvannet.
The couple’s wedding anniversary has been overshadowed by speculation that their fairytale romance is over and that their marriage is held together by their titles.
This comes after King Frederik was photographed on a night out last November, alongside glamorous socialite Genoveva Casanova.
The friends were photographed out and about in Madrid, and even returned to Genoveva’s apartment without an escort.
Genoveva slammed the rumors and said the couple are just friends, while the Danish Palace simply said they don’t comment on gossip.
But royal watchers and body language experts alike have speculated that the embarrassing scandal has had a major impact on the popular couple.
Another photo shows the couple’s apparent indifference during the week of their anniversary.
Queen Mary returned home alone to meet with the High Commissioner for Refugees, the Italian Filippo Grandi. This appointment, which was not marked on the couple’s public agenda, was confirmed on Instagram by the palace.
Dr Louise Mahler told FEMAIL that the King seemed to be “disconnected” from the marriage, while Scott Taylor said Queen Mary’s feet are facing the exit too often, showing where she really wants to go.
Both experts said the couple shows no signs of intimacy in recent appearances; Taylor even went so far as to say that “they don’t even seem to like each other.”
Queen Mary also returned home early from what has been called “the working wedding anniversary tour” to meet with UN representatives.
The couple’s relationship has been in the spotlight since last November, when King Frederick, who was the crown prince at the time, was spotted on a night out with Genoveva Casanova.
King Frederick refused to acknowledge the couple’s anniversary during his visit to Oslo, commenting on the weather or moving on to other matters.
The meeting took place at the couple’s urban residence, Amalienburg, between the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Italian Filippo Grandi, and the Queen.

Relieved Danes commented on the post to reveal they were worried when Queen Mary traveled home alone.
“Thank you for this update, as other accounts are wondering why she may have traveled back to Denmark alone and not by boat. I assumed it was due to a prior commitment on Mary’s part. Too many people jump to conclusions and offer negative opinions.” , wrote one woman.
Others questioned the legitimacy of the meeting.
