This is the moment King Charles smiles as he continues his official duties at Buckingham Palace.

Charles met with Algerian Ambassador Nourredine Yazid and Mauritanian Ambassador Samba Mamadou today as he continues his cancer treatment.

It comes as the Army announced yesterday that Kate Middleton would return to royal duties at a Trooping the Color practice ceremony on June 8, before it appeared they would do a U-turn today. Kensington Palace has not yet said whether she will be present or not.

Video footage shows the King smiling in the back of his Rolls-Royce as the crowd applauds his passing.

The 75-year-old, wearing a light blue patterned tie, appeared in good spirits as he met the diplomats.

While he is stepping away from official visits, other members of the royal family have taken on additional duties.

Queen Camilla has been holding down the fort since King Charles was diagnosed with cancer in January.

She has completed 13 official solo engagements since her husband’s condition came to light, but is now expected to hand the reins to the Prince of Wales and Princess Anne while she takes a break.

The King was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer following unrelated hospital treatment for an enlarged prostate earlier this year.

He was treated at the same hospital as the Princess of Wales, who underwent abdominal surgery for an unknown condition in January.

It comes as royal fans face ticket chaos after rushing to buy seats to watch the Princess of Wales return to royal duties at a Trooping of the Color practice ceremony – only for the army to make a U-turn 180 degrees and remove the reference to it from the event page.

The Army today backtracked on claims that Kate Middleton would attend the June 8 parade amid accusations that officials were “rushed” by announcing her attendance without consulting the Palace.

Tickets had sold out through the Army website which advertised Kate, 42, reviewing a “practice” parade for the first time on June 8 in her role as honorary colonel of the Irish Guards.

The Princess of Wales has been out of action since undergoing abdominal surgery in January, and is not expected to return to public duties until at least the other side of Easter.

The announcement seemed to indicate that Kate would be well enough to attend the June 8 event, but broke protocol as only the Palace can traditionally confirm a royal’s attendance.

Kensington Palace has not yet said it will be present and MailOnline understands Palace officials were not consulted about the announcement. Neither side has issued a statement about the debacle.
