King Charles is said to be losing patience with his brother, Prince Andrew, over his continued refusal to leave the Royal Lodge.

Charles has long sought to oust the Duke of York from the 30-bedroom, £30m estate in Windsor where he lives with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

Andrew, 64, has insisted on staying at the mansion despite stepping down from official duties nearly five years ago.

The King has been funding private guards at the mansion since Andrew’s armed police officers (who cost £3m a year) were scrapped in 2022 amid the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Charles is said to be at the end of his tether and has made it clear that there are now only “two possible options” for Andrew, The times reported.

The first thing is for the Duke to find a way to be financially independent by paying his own expenses, which would cover his security and the maintenance of his house.

The second, according to sources close to the King, is that Andrés moves to “more suitable accommodation.”

Charles has encouraged Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate, which is the former home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex before their move to California.

The cottage sits within the existing security cordon of the Windsor royal estate and was renovated by Harry and Meghan.

Last month it was reported that the Duke could have been given an autumn deadline to leave the Royal Lodge.

The ultimatum reportedly came from the monarch, who has long been trying to oust his disgraced younger brother from the estate.

Andrew has been reluctant to leave, having signed a 75-year lease with the Crown Estate when he moved in in 2003, on condition that he make a £1m down payment and pay £260,000-a-year rent.

Added to this is the added complication of much-needed repairs to the estate’s buildings, some of which are in a poor state of repair and the bill for renovations has already reached £7m.

Charles’ overtures to get Andrew to leave appeared to have taken a turn after it was reported that he told his brother’s security team that their services would no longer be needed.

Charles has been “making his feelings known” towards Andrew by ditching the security team guarding his brother’s home, it was also claimed last month.

The team of ten security guards, who were being funded by Charles, were told they would not be needed from the autumn, prompting speculation the duke would be forced to move out.

In June, it was claimed that Charles “wants to rent Windsor Royal Lodge for £1m a year” but Andrew will have to move out of the mansion first.

The King is reportedly keen to generate commercial income from the impressive home, as soon as he kicks out the disgraced Duke of York, who refuses to pack his bags and leave, The Sun reported.
