Kim Kardashian is penalized for the first photo of the newest addition to her family – and it has nothing to do with the unusual name of the baby.
On Friday, Kim, 37 years old, shared the first photo of Little Psalm West, tied in white in his bow-cradle.
But while most people lose their understanding of the name & # 39; Psalm & # 39 ;, some parents and doctors with eagle eyes were more concerned with the sleeping places of the newborn – and made sure she told Kim what she was doing wrong.
Big revelation: Kim Kardashian's announcement of the baby name for Psalm West, which was shared on May 17, caused quite a stir
See what is going on? But some critics were less focused on the unusual name and more concerned about how Psalm slept
Tsk tsk: Several doctors tweet that the arrangement of the boy's cradle puts him at risk of cot death
Scary things: the doctors pointed out that soft bedding, crib bumpers, blankets and pillows can lead to tragic and unexpected deaths for newborns
Pay attention! A pediatrician has shared tips for Kim and warned her that she is influencing the behavior of others
The photo that Kim shared was part of a screenshot of text messages that her husband, Kanye West, sent to her.
In the snap, taken from above, Psalm wears a knitted hat and wrapped in a white blanket.
It is placed on top of a cozy-looking pillow on the bed of the cradle.
But although that social atmosphere may look inviting to a larger child or adult, several commentators pointed out that it is not the best thing for a baby. It could even be deadly.
& # 39; Quite concerned about the name. Previously concerned about the mattress-like pillow that the baby sleeps on and the blankets that cover the baby, & wrote one, adding the hashtag #sids.
& # 39; I can't help it: all I can see are SIDS risks, it's my job. Wheels that limit the airflow, loose covers and things under his head. & # 39;
Protect that baby! Non-medical professionals also weighed in, some with harsh criticism and others with helpful guidance
SIDS stands for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, the term for the unexplained death of an otherwise healthy baby, usually while he or she is in bed.
SIDS is caused by defective brain signals that regulate breathing, but certain factors in a baby's sleeping facilities can increase the risk of death and exacerbate breathing problems.
According to the Mayo Clinicsoft sleeping surfaces, overheating and sleeping on the tummy or side can endanger a baby.
Seeing Psalm apparently on its side in a cradle filled with pillows and blankets has clearly triggered alarm bells for some people, including various medical professionals.
& # 39; Please, go too expensive & # 39; Sleep consultant & # 39; pay to remove all those unnecessary padding, bumpers and blankets from your child's cradle, so that they are not at risk of cot death. I tried and failed to resuscitate too many children who died this way. Signed, an ER doctor & # 39 ;, Dr. Steve Carroll wrote.
& # 39; Congratulations on your cute baby, & # 39; added Dr. Jen Trachtenberg, a pediatrician, ready. & # 39; As a pediatrician I just want parents to know that the best way to reduce the risk of cot death is to sleep on the back, use firm crib mattresses – no extra blankets, pillows, bumpers, soft bedding, sleeping standards, hugs.
Some experience: Psalm is the fourth child for Kim and Kanye West
Big family: they also have North, who turns six in June, the three-year-old saint and one-year-old Chicago
& # 39; As a huge social media influencer so many people follow you up and it can be confusing when you see these cute baby pictures and then maybe think it's safe to do for their own baby, & # 39 ; she added.
And dr. Ashely Alker wrote: & # 39; Congratulations on your sweetheart! & # 39; Please help to sleep safely for others and to keep your baby safe. Avoid SIDS. & # 39;
More people who were just familiar with SIDS were also eligible.
& # 39; There are too many blankets, clothes and bumpers in that crib! Very dangerous for the baby, & wrote one.
& # 39; Please follow safe sleeping habits. It can reduce the risk of cot death. Everything in this photo causes fear, & another person wrote.
& # 39; Newborns shouldn't sleep with such a pillow and those blankets … please learn about SIDS, you're rich enough. I don't have or want children and I hear a lot about this topic from friends, & a third said.
Kim did not respond to the criticisms.
WHAT IS COT DEATH AND HOW CAN IT BE PREVENTED?
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), or sudden infant death syndrome, is the sudden, unexpected, and inexplicable death of an apparently healthy baby.
SIDS kills around 3,500 babies in the US and nearly 300 in the UK every year.
It usually occurs within the first six months of a baby's life and is more common among those born prematurely or with a low birth weight.
The cause of cot death is unknown, but it is associated with tobacco smoke, tangled bedding, sleeping with parents, and respiratory failure.
Prevent the risk by:
- Lay sleeping babies on their backs
- Keep baby's heads uncovered
- Sleep in the same room as babies during the first six months of their lives
- Use a sturdy, flat, waterproof mattress in cribs for babies
- Breastfeeding if possible
- Smoke during pregnancy or in the same room as a baby
- Sleep on a bed or chair with a baby
- Allow babies & # 39; s to get too hot or too cold. Temperatures between 16 and 20C must be comfortable
