Kim Kardashian has shared that one of her and ex-husband Kanye West’s children has a rare skin disorder.
The 43-year-old mother of four (who shares North, 11, Saint, eight, Chicago, six, and Psalm, five with West, 47) revealed one of her children has vitiligo, a skin condition.
“It came from my mother, it was passed on to me, and I passed it on in a different way to my son, who has very mild vitiligo,” the Kardashian star said on Monday’s episode of the She MD podcast.
Vitiligo is a “chronic autoimmune disorder that causes certain areas of the skin to lose pigment or color,” according to National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. “This happens when melanocytes (pigment-producing skin cells) are attacked and destroyed, causing the skin to turn a milky white color,” the institute’s website states.
Kim’s friend, model Winnie Harlow, has it.

Although the tycoon, who suffers from psoriasis, did not specify which of her children has the disorder, she did say that it is “under control.”
“I didn’t know anything about it, but having to learn about it and find out where it came from and that it’s hereditary and just learning more and being able to share it (has been a blessing),” she told hosts Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi and influencer Mary Alice Haney.
The candid TV personality also opened up about the fact that her children have “a little bit of eczema.”
Kardashian has struggled with psoriasis since she was about 30, and is the only one of her mother Kris Jenner’s six children to have inherited the condition.
“I’ll do anything,” she said of treating the uncomfortable breakouts. “I’ve tried special herbs, the holistic method, a six-week celery juice diet, every topical cream, every soap, from natural to artificial.”
In an old episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the billionaire was even seen reaching for his sister Kourtney Kardashian’s breast milk to soothe his patchy, itchy skin.
Last January, Kim detailed a “painful” flare-up on her leg.
“I’m not gonna lie – this is painful. I’m not sure what my triggers are. I haven’t changed my diet. I’ve tried everything! Psoriasis is horrible,” she shared in an Instagram Story at the time.

In the latest episode of Hulu’s family series The Kardashians, Kim shared that she has finally implemented stricter rules for her four children.
“This is my most important job. I can’t let anyone walk all over me,” she assured her younger sister Khloe Kardashian, 40.
This came after the multi-talented woman went to a therapist who suggested she “cut down on her screen time.”
“I just changed a lot of little things in my house. I’m basically turning into Kourtney and Khloe,” she later said in a confessional interview, comparing herself to her siblings.
