Kim Kardashian was opening up about the beginning of her journey with therapy on the season 5 finale of The Kardashians, which led her to censor an ex’s name.
The episode shows Kourtney in Los Angeles, as Kim comes to visit and asks how Rocky is doing, which happens after Kim asks Khloe for help with a suit.
Kim finally admits to Kourtney that she was right about going to therapy all along, which shocks Kourtney, who just says, “Stop!”
Kim confesses: “Kourtney is back from Australia and I’ve been waiting patiently to tell her about my experience with therapy. As a child I always said that Kourtney did everything first and that I imitated her, and it’s kind of true.”
She adds later in the confession: ‘When someone tells me not to do something that I had planned, I’m physically like, “You’re getting in my way, and I’m going to bulldoze through everything that’s in my way, because you’re not going to tell me to change my schedule,” and I feel like that’s how I would behave in relationships, like when (censored) started saying to me, “You work so much. Why don’t you just take the week off?” And I was like, “Get out of here.” Take the week off? That was the beginning of the end.

Kim declined to discuss her ex further, though it’s possible she was referring to Pete Davidson, her first boyfriend since splitting from ex-husband Kanye West.
Pete had been mentioned numerous times and appeared briefly during the couple’s nine-month relationship.
Kim adds, “You had to go through that first, and then I was like, ‘I’m going to do this,'” while Kourtney says, “Now you see why I wanted you guys to be in this.”
‘My therapist told me she watched the show and said, ‘All of your sisters need therapy, especially you, Khloe and your mom.’
Kourtney says, “I tried to bring it up with Mom on the show, and she kept interrupting me,” as they cut to an earlier scene from last season where Kourtney asks, “Are you in therapy or not?”
“Do you have a really nice dimple on your chin?” Kris asks, completely deflecting the question about therapy.
Kim adds, “I think it sounds like you’re explaining it…” while Kourtney continues, “Like you need help or something.”
“Yeah, you are a little bit critical,” Kim admits, while Kourtney confides, “I think there’s also a part where you’re analyzing other people, where I would be like, ‘Oh, I know why you’re doing that. ’ It’s hard not to hold back from telling the other person. She seems like a know-it-all, so I think I went through that phase. It’s a whole journey of growth, but I think I’m at the point now where I’m like, ‘Yeah, do whatever you want,’ which I think is the place to get to without it bothering you. Without it bothering you. Kourtney doesn’t care.”

Kourtney tells Kim, “I loved what she was saying about trauma, though, that you probably didn’t deal with your… trauma, or that your way of dealing with it would be…” and Kim finishes, “it’s like an extra calm.”
Kourtney adds: “I also stay calm, like I’m just going to… it’s like you downplay everything, almost like it’s a form of self-protection, but I think that’s why, in emergency situations, I feel like my superpower is staying calm.”
Kim adds in a confessional statement: “I always said that I’m very calm and that’s my superpower, but my therapist felt that it was a trauma response, for me to stay calm, for me to have to live a life where I always have to be in fight or flight mode. It was a lightbulb moment.”
Kim tells Kourtney, “My thing is, okay, I know people underestimate me, so I’m going to feel really good about just…,” while Kourtney says, “Proving them wrong.”
Kim confirms: “Yes, but why? Who cares?”
Kourtney says she’s excited for Kim to go to therapy and Kim admits, “I’m the new Kourtney,” while Kourtney says, “The most important thing is just knowing yourself and why you make certain decisions and why you act that way and I think once you know that, it can help you make a better decision.”
A producer asks Kourtney if she thinks her entire family should do family therapy and she immediately says no.
“Absolutely not. Everyone is in a different place in the board game, you know, getting to the finish line, and I feel like everyone is doing whatever they want.”
Kim tells Kourtney: ‘I think the only thing that struck me was thinking, “You can have better relationships with your kids and your future partner if you work through your issues, so that’s why I’m doing it.”
“Well, I’m proud of you,” Kourtney admits as Kim says, “Thank you.”
