Kim Jong Un was flanked by an army of black-clad officials from head to toe when he visited the memorial palace where his grandfather Kim Il Sung’s body is buried.
The North Korean dictator, believed to be 36, commemorates Kim Il Sung at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun mausoleum for the 26th anniversary of his death.
No one in the room wore masks while soldiers were lined up against the walls in ceremonial form.
Kim joined top officials Choe Ryong Hae, Pak Pong Ju and Kim Jae Ryong, according to state media, as they approached the statue of Kim Il Sung.

The dictator’s visit this week comes after speculation about his absence from the same palace, on the anniversary of his grandfather’s birth in April.
His absence fueled rumors that Jong Un was in poor health.
No North Korean leader has ever missed the event, as Kim Il Sung is considered the country’s “ Eternal President ” – despite her 1994 death.
Kim has now been seen in public only nine times since April, after an average of 46 times in the same period since she took office in 2011.
Last week, he ended up absent from the public for a month when he appeared at a meeting of the country’s political bureau.
Kim Il Sung was the founder of North Korea and ruled from 1948 until his death in 1994.

He held the positions of Prime Minister from 1948 to 1972 and President from 1972 to 1994 and younger his leadership North Korea was established as a communist state.
Kim Il Sung collapsed in 1994 from a heart attack in his hometown of Northern Pyongyan and died a few hours later at the age of 82.
His death resulted in a nationwide ten-day mourning that was pronounced by his son Kim Jong Il – Kim Jong Un’s father.
Hundreds of thousands of people who flew into North Korea attended his funeral.

Kim Il Sung’s body is said to have been preserved and remains under a glass box for viewing in the palace, under the flag of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
Kim Jong Un visits Kumsusan every year on the anniversary of his grandfather’s death, often at midnight.
The only year he did not visit was in 2018, when he probably conducted inspections in the northern city of Samjiyon that appeared in state media two days later, NK News reported.
His visit on Wednesday was also featured on the front page of the ruling party, Rodong Sinmun daily.
