Kim Chiu admitted that she was not invited to Maja Salvador’s wedding to Rambo Nuñez in Indonesia last July, although she made it clear that they are still on good terms to this day.
In her Q&A vlog uploaded to her YouTube channel last Sunday, September 24, the “It’s Showtime” host answered a fan’s question about why she was absent from Salvador’s wedding.
“Hindi naman kami sobrang close na ni Maja en hindi na rin naman kami masyadong nagu-usap,” she said. “Siyempre, kapag kasal mo, gusto mo ‘yung mga taong gusto mo lang nandyan to witness your love as a partner mo. Hindi aka na-imbitahan.”
(Maja and I are no longer as close as we used to be and we haven’t been in touch for a while. When it comes to your wedding, you obviously want the people closest to you to be present to witness your love with your partner. So I wasn’t invited.)
In an apparent attempt to avoid further controversy, Chiu said she was “very happy” for the newlyweds and even sent a message to wish them well.
“Okay long! Wala talagang (hard feelings). Sobrang happy ko para sa kanya, minessage ko naman siya. At na-touch din ako nung minessage niya ako dahil doon sa nangyari sa ate ko (It’s okay! There are no hard feelings at all. I’m so happy for her. I even messaged her. And I was touched when she reached out after what happened to my sister),” she said, referring to her older sister Lakam’s recent health crisis.
“Sabi niya pinagpe-pray daw niya ‘yung at ko en sana daw ok lang ako. Nakausap ko siya noong may nangyari sa ate ko (She said she is praying for my ate and hoping I am doing well. We last spoke when my ate was in the hospital),” she continued.
The ‘Linlang’ star emphasized that it is okay not to be invited to someone’s wedding, saying that Salvador deserves to be happy on her special day.
“Pero siguro sa kasal, hindi naman is important for the imbitado ka of hindi. It is possible that you can use the rest of the time. Earn nila ang isa’t isa, sila ni Rambo,” she said. “Hindi naman na mahalaga ‘yun. Problem pa ‘yun? Bakit? Pagdating ko ba ‘dun, hihinto ang kasal?”
(In terms of someone’s wedding, it doesn’t matter if you’re invited or not. As long as you know that you’re happy and she’s happy. She and Rambo deserve each other. It doesn’t matter. Why would this be a problem? Would the wedding stop when I arrive?)
During her vlog, Chiu also congratulated the newlyweds on finding their “forever.”
“Hindi naman na siguro ako magma matter kung present or hindi. As long as happy ako na nahanap na niya is niya forever. At ‘yun si Rambo. Congratulations to Kaya, Mr. and Mrs. Nunez (It doesn’t matter if I’m there or not. As long as I’m happy she found her forever, and she did with Rambo. So congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Nunez),” she said.
Chiu and Salvador are known to be good friends until they starred in the teleserye ‘Ina, Kapatid, Anak’ in 2013, after the latter started dating Gerald Anderson, who happened to be the former’s ex-boyfriend. Anderson and Salvador eventually split in 2015.
Meanwhile, Chiu and Anderson previously had a reel-to-real relationship until they split in 2010. They reunited in May 2017 in the teleserye ‘Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin’.
Both actresses eventually settled their differences, with Salvador revealing in an interview that they have been on good terms since 2014. They were spotted together in New Jersey for an overseas show.
