Brett Daly: Kiara’s innocence was stolen when she was just 15 by a 36-year-old married father, who groomed her and sent her nude photos. Now she’s afraid to go out after he was released from prison after just two weeks.
A married father who stole a teenage girl’s innocence by grooming her at a skate park and sending her a naked photo of himself has served just two weeks in prison.
A year ago, when Kiara Stewart was just 15, Sydney native Brett Daly gained her confidence by helping her skateboard. Then he began contacting her with increasingly inappropriate messages and images.
The teenager was a promising athlete before this traumatic ordeal, but now she no longer trains because she is afraid of leaving the family home.
Daly, 36, ultimately pleaded guilty to using a transportation service to threaten, harass or offend and intending to commit a sexual act with a child under 16.
Although he was sentenced to seven months in prison, he appealed and was released after fifteen days.
Kiara said she felt “abandoned” by the justice system and wanted him put back in prison.
Kiara Stewart said she was speaking out to warn others
“This is absolutely false. I’m afraid to go out in public because of this man, but he was released,” she said. A current affair.
“I feel like it took away my teenage years. Now I’m afraid of the world.
The courageous young girl, now 16, speaks out to warn others.
“No child deserves to experience sexual things.” Receiving this content and everything,” Kiara said.
“This could happen to another girl.” This could happen to someone younger, she might be afraid to come out to her parents.
The married man first approached the schoolgirl at a skatepark offering to teach her how to skateboard.
Daly asked for her contact information and began messaging her.
He sprinkled these messages with love heart emojis and kisses, which she found “weird” coming from a man 20 years her senior.
Then Daly started FaceTimeing him and sending him shirtless photos.
He even sent her lyrics from love songs, like lines from Celine Dion’s The Power of Love: “Lost is what I feel, lying in your arms.”
One morning at 5 a.m., Daly sent the teen a nude image of himself, then abruptly blamed someone else.

He claimed one of his “girlfriends” had gone through his Snapchat list and sent images to his contacts while pretending to be him.
Daly also said he needed to go to the police.
Ms Stewart’s mother Nicole urged her to tell her story to police.
When Daly was arrested, he admitted to sending the nude photo, but claimed he sent it accidentally while he was drunk.
During her appeal, Judge Tanya Smith chastised Daly, saying: “He doesn’t recognize why he is here… exposing an underage girl to images of himself.”
He spent only two weeks behind bars, but must also serve a three-year community service sentence and complete 350 hours of community service.
Kiara’s mother, Nicole, said she was proud that her daughter was speaking out.
“She’s braver than any 16-year-old I know,” Nicole said.
“She has the strength and determination to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else again.”
