She infuriated social media users after she appeared to alert people to their reliance on single-use plastics after using a lot of it herself.
And Khloé Kardashian took to Twitter later on Monday to defend herself against her eco-conscious critics, while also admitting she’d be “the last one to say I’m super eco-conscious.”
The 36-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also claimed that her intention was not to call on wasteful people, but to recommend more sustainable options for consumers.
Fires back: Khloé Kardashian, 36, fired back at social media users who called her a hypocrite after complaining Monday about single-use plastics, even though she admitted she was still learning
‘Oh my! LOL What drives me [crazy emoji] is that people don’t turn anything into something,” Khloé lamented in her first tweet, adding: “It must be a slow news day.
“I’m constantly learning and trying to be better for the environment for the sake of my daughter. I’m the last person to say I’m super environmentally conscious because I know how much I still have to learn.’
She clarified: ‘Everything I just said is a hobbyhorse of MY. I think it’s crazy that people pour 4 to 5 single-use plastic bottles into a reusable container. It misses the mark a bit.’
The reality star added that she encouraged her followers to look into “a water filtration system” that can be had for “the price of a box of water bottles.”
“Sometimes plastic water bottles are the only option for some people and I totally get that.”
Khloé also admitted that she “sometimes” reaches for a disposable bottle.
Mixed post: Khloé complained on Twitter that it must be ‘a slow news day’, admitting she was ‘the last one to say I’m super eco-conscious’
Her point: She defended her morning videos, saying it “defeats the mark” of pouring multiple small water bottles into a larger reusable pitcher
Hidden message: The KUWTK star said she encouraged people to research cheap filter systems, even though most of her video was spent complaining about others
Making progress: She admitted she wasn’t perfect ‘and still ‘deserved’ and ‘made small changes for our future’
Ready for more: She called herself “a baby at this sort of thing” and denied “shame” people, though she was happy to get eco-conscious tips
Keeping it a secret: She ended her diatribe by claiming she’ll keep her water bottle to herself from now on
“It’s not about being perfect. It’s about learning and hopefully making small changes for our future. Holy smokes.
“Anyway, I love it when I get simple tips on how we can potentially make a change in our world. Feel free to tweet me some tips,” she continued.
Despite her initially defensive tone, the Good American co-founder sounded open about ways to reduce her waste.
“I’m always up for learning and I’ll see how that fits into my life. Hopefully we all do our part in our own way,” she wrote. “I’m proud of all of us for doing our best and just trying. But these stories say I shame pep is BS because I’m a baby myself at this sort of thing.”
Khloé concluded her tweet stream by swearing she would keep her water pitchers to herself from now on, though she jokingly said it was back on after a user replied that they wanted to see her hydrate.
Ironically, she started the day right when she posted her diatribe about the water bottle by encouraging her followers to “exclude the negativity” and “exclude the people who are cruel.”
“Remember, they’re fighting their own problems,” she continued. “Reply kindly.”
Ironic: Khloé started the day off when she posted her water bottle tirade by encouraging her followers to “exclude the negativity” and “exclude the people who are cruel”
Learning moment: Khloe Kardashian clearly had a lot on her mind as she ranted about single-use plastics to her 152 million followers on Instagram in the early morning hours
Previously, the social media fixture had tried to educate her fans about pollution, but users reminded her of her own tendencies to go overboard with disposable items, including lavish balloon displays for nearly every event in her home, alongside a pantry stocked with the edge with plastic.
“So many people tag me in these huge pitchers of water and I feel great because I know people stay hydrated,” she began.
“Something that annoys me is that I see people take water bottles and just pour them into the reusable gallon-sized plastic bottle so they can consume their water for the day. That defeats the purpose because that water bottle ends up in a landfill somewhere, potentially causing pollution.
‘We are trying to limit our single use of plastic, so I think people should be aware of that. The point of this yes is to stay hydrated, but also hopefully reduce all the pollution.”
Khloe further noted that many retailers offer affordable filter systems that can be attached to faucets or placed in refrigerators.
Do it for them: ‘I’m not saying that or condemning that, I’m just saying I don’t know why we pour and use water bottles… to throw that plastic away for these pitchers. So I’m turning into Kourtney, but let’s try to save the environment for the kids,” she said
“That’s a lot smarter than buying crates of water,” she said. “If you’re going to be using reusable pitchers like I do, and if not every day… then I get it. Sometimes we have to grab a bottle of water.

Twitter was set ablaze with comments when users were quick to exclaim the hypocrisy, finding photos of Khloe’s affinity for huge balloon displays.
Khloe is really in the business of putting her followers to shame for using single-use water bottles here, when every party they throw looks like this (next tweet). This girl is too much,” wrote @imheretowatch1.

They added: ‘If there was a hypocrite of the CENTURY prize, Khloe would win by an earth slideeeee #sooutoftouch.’
“AND the flowers they think are so exaggerated every day are an entirely different environmental disaster.”
