Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s posh neighborhood in the Los Angeles suburbs has been threatened by an unexpected predator, to the point that a local school was closed.
A cougar was spotted in the Hidden Hills area of Calabasas, where both Khloe, 40, and her mother Kris, 69, own extensive property.
A nearby elementary school closed for part of Wednesday due to the potential threat posed by the animal.
The feline was seen climbing multiple tree branches in the area and spending time on a resident’s lawn, in images obtained by TMZ.
At one point, the cougar, a member of a species that can run more than 40 miles per hour, was seen quickly climbing a tree.
Given the number of children and pets living in Hidden Hills, locals are said to be frightened by the animal’s presence, according to a neighborhood source.

Khloe appears in a recent Instagram post confronting her fears of piercings.
Residents called the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), only to be informed that the cougar cannot be tranquilized or removed under state law.
Cougars are a specially protected non-hunted species in California, and this particular big cat was in its natural territory, so authorities were unable to expel it.
A CDFW representative has confirmed that the organization tends not to intervene in wildlife movements if possible, since its mandate is the management and conservation of natural resources.
Each situation is judged on a case-by-case basis and there may be exceptional occasions when it is necessary to move an animal to an appropriate nearby habitat.
However, the optimal outcome is if the animal is able to leave the affected area of its own volition, the CDFW spokesperson explained.
Khloé is generally not afraid of big cats in a controlled environment, as she revealed on her Instagram page during a trip to Mexico in 2015.
She and her half-sister Kendall Jenner could be seen interacting with rescued animals at the Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation in Monterrey.
The eye-catching snaps showed Khloé playing with what appeared to be an adult brown and white jaguar, as well as petting a large leopard.
