Khabib Nurmagomedov will sensationally come out of retirement to fight Rafael dos Anjos if he defeats Islam Makhachev, the Brazilian claimed.
Dos Anjos shared an update on Twitter, writing: “Just heard from the UFC that Islam has accepted to fight me October 30, 5 rounds in Abu Dhabi and Khabib agreed to come out of retirement and then take the loss.” to avenge his brother.
Makhachev is touted by many as a future champion and the Dagestani is Khabib’s close friend, training partner and protege.

He defeated Thiago Moises via fourth-round submission on Saturday night and has since risen to number 5 in the lightweight rankings.
The wrestling supremo has been scheduled twice to face Dos Anjos, who is now number 7, but the match was dropped both times.
Before agreeing for the third time, Dos Anjos wrote that he would only sign if he could meet Khabib as a reward for a win.
And now, the 36-year-old says negotiations are finalized for a clash with Makhachev at Fight Island in October.

Whether Khabib has given the green light pending Makhachev’s defeat of Dos Anjos with the sword remains to be seen.

Dana White spent months trying to convince the wrestling sensation to return, but to no avail, so his ears perked up at Dos Anjos’ statement.
Fighters in their prime seldom retire for long, but Khabib is a man of principle, so it would be a huge surprise to see him return, especially if he has said that Makhachev has his heir.
The 29-year-old has a similar stifling style but perhaps with more polished strokes and it feels only a matter of time before he emerges from Khabib’s shadow.
But it will be fascinating to see if Dos Anjos’ claim is true.
