A girl has been rushed to hospital after being attacked by a dingo on Queensland’s popular K’gari Island.

The four-year-old girl was bitten and scratched by the wild animal at Orchid Beach on the island formerly known as Fraser Island shortly before 1pm on Saturday.

She was bitten on the chest and was left with scratches and bruises.

The woman was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition early Saturday afternoon.

A male dingo believed to be responsible for the attack is being monitored by rangers.

K’gari was hit by a series of dingo attacks in 2023.

An eight-year-old boy was attacked in early July that year and a 10-year-old boy was dragged underwater by a dingo in June.
