Craig said in a statement that leaving the brand was a difficult choice to make, and she is proud of everything that Marchesa has become.
& # 39; Although I made the difficult decision to separate with Marchesa, I am immensely proud of the company, the team and the many successes achieved & she said.
& # 39; Marchesa will always be the realization of a dream. In the last 16 years it has been the most incredible and satisfying professional journey.
& # 39; I am excited to start exploring additional creative possibilities now and to push my potential as a designer in new directions. & # 39;
The announcement will not be a surprise to some in the fashion industry, given that Marchesa has been struggling since October 2017.
End of an era: Craig and Chapman (pictured in 2006) have long been friends and associates

That month, both the New York Times and the New Yorker published an investigation report about Weinstein's behavior, including several reports of alleged victims who claimed that Weinstein threatened, abused, and even raped them.
In the aftermath, Chapman – who eventually separated from Weinstein – withdrew from the public eye.
& # 39; My heart breaks for all women who have suffered enormous pain through these unforgivable actions. I chose to leave my husband. Taking care of my young children is my first priority and I am currently asking the media for privacy, & she said in a statement to People at the time.
In January of 2018, the New York Post revealed that Chapman would cancel the upcoming fall 2018 show at New York Fashion Week, with a source telling the paper & # 39; Georgina could not continue. She was too scared.
& # 39; They were gung-ho … but when they got closer, they choked, & # 39; the source added.
Exclusive: the brand has been struggling since the Weinstein scandal broke, with Marchesa emergency landing runways for private presentations (shown in April 2019)
Changes: the brand held runway shows with stars in the front row
Friends: Still Craig got stuck in public by Chapman, who divorced Weinstein in the months after the scandals broke
Instead, a lookbook from the new collection was distributed to fashion publications and shared on Instagram. There was a private presentation in a hotel in New York City for selected members of the media.
Since then, the brand continues to opt for smaller, exclusive presentations instead of flashy runway affairs.
But for a while the designer duo seemed eager to go on, with Craig in public clinging to Chapman.
& # 39; Everything you see here today, Georgina outlined while she was out of the office and facing a very difficult period & # 39 ;, she said. Grazia at a presentation in February 2018.
& # 39; George only sent sketches. It was incredible. This collection is the result of that time. I feel emotional because I really couldn't believe how incredibly strong she was.
Flashback: their last show on the catwalk (photo) was held in September 2017
& # 39; She threw herself into her work, she threw herself into protecting her children. Marchesa is her life, it's her passion. You can see it here: even though she went through it, these beautiful things somehow came from such a difficult time. & # 39;
& # 39; Georgina does not see herself as a victim, & # 39; she added. That is very important. She is just trying to continue her life. You have to realize that George is such a strong woman. Don't get me wrong, it's a very difficult time, but she's pretty inspiring. & # 39;
Despite that cheerful attitude, Marchesa certainly felt the effects of the Weinstein crimes.
Celebrities, who had often worn the brand on red carpet events, avoided it like the plague in the immediate aftermath.
Back on the carpet: although stars prevented wearing the brand for some time, Scarlett Johansson came to the Met Gala of 2018 in a Marchesa creation
Support: Priyanka Chopra also wore the brand and the emphatic support
Don't hide: Chapman returned to the red carpet during this year's Met Gala, while dressing up Constance Wu
Some were probably especially wary of supporting the brand, given allegations that Weinstein had put pressure on actresses to wear Marchesa,
Over time, however, a few stars returned, with Scarlett Johansson breaking the drought by wearing the brand at the Met Gala in 2018.
& # 39; I was wearing Marchesa because their clothing makes women feel confident and beautiful and it is a pleasure to support a brand made by two incredibly talented and important female designers, & # 39; ScarJo told the people at the time.
Other stars soon followed, including Priyanka Chopra, who told it WWD: & # 39; Georgina is a friend of mine, and she has been. And it's not her fault. And I don't think it's good to express to a self-made woman what someone did in her life.
In trouble: Meanwhile, Weinstein remains in court for sexual violence
See you soon: the maligned perpetrator is seen on April 26 in the Supreme Court of the state of New York
& # 39; That's the wrong attitude. I've known her for years, and that was a beautiful dress, and deserved to be worn by an expectant bride. And I felt like a princess. It was the right choice. "
The newest in the Harvey Weinstein test
Weinstein's lawyers filed papers in the Manhattan federal court on June 21 to convince a judge to reject Actil Wedil David's claim of human trafficking.
David claims that she was raped by Weinstein after he played her a role in the TV series & # 39; Marco Polo & # 39; had promised and lured her to his hotel room in Beverly Hills.
She apparently met Weinstein at a party in 2011, and he offered to support her acting career – and even invited her to the awards parties a few years later.
The last Weinstein indictment in the trial is asking a judge to reject her sex trade claims, which followed similar claims made by women who have approved other judges.
Weinstein appeals to all of these judgments, and his lawyers urge the judges to proceed with the further improper extension of anti-trafficking laws. to stop.
Chapman herself even went back this year to the Met Gala, on the red carpet next to Constance Wu, who dressed them up.
But regardless of the recent revival, the damage may have already occurred.
Immediately after the publication of the New York Times story, Helzberg Diamonds announced that it would cancel a partnership with Marchesa that would be opening stores later this month.
Days later, the New York Post reported that Marchesa employees were trying to get away.
& # 39; Everyone is trying to leave, & # 39; said a source.
& # 39; Georgina and Keren keep up with the mother and keep going. But they are just as nervous as their staff (is), & another source added.
A third source even said that it was not the first time Weinstein had caused a problem between the two women, but that Craig was the brand's creative brand. Without Keren, Marchesa would not last two minutes. & # 39;
