Two people have been found dead inside a Brisbane home occupied by a single mother and two young children.

Emergency services were called to a residence on Kentville Street in the north-west suburb of Mitchelton shortly before 9am on Thursday.

Several police officers and a man in a blue hazmat suit could be seen entering the property.

Neighbours told Daily Mail Australia that a single mother and two primary school-aged children were living inside the home, which is owned by the Queensland government.

They said the community is “praying” that the children, who are often seen playing in the yard, were not hurt.

They said they had not heard or witnessed anything unusual in the area in the past 24 hours and were surprised when police swarmed the street on Thursday morning.

Another local resident said the house was “known to police” and a stolen vehicle was towed from the front of the property about a month ago.

“They (police) pulled up outside and took the license plates, then a tow truck showed up,” the resident said of last month’s incident.

‘It was a trash can painted black. It was questionable.

“I’d seen the police there before.”

The resident said they had also previously heard fighting on the property.

A Queensland Police spokesman said officers were “investigating the sudden deaths of two people in Mitchelton this morning.”

“Emergency services were called to a residence on Kentville Street at around 8.50am,” the spokesman said.

‘A crime scene has been declared and enquiries into the cause of death are ongoing.

‘There is no further information available at this time.’

The man in the hazmat suit was later seen being escorted to a car with detectives after leaving the property.

No charges have been filed.
