Kellyanne Conway meets DA as investigation looks into Trump’s role over hush money paid to porn star

Former political adviser to President Trump Kellyanne Conway has met with the Manhattan district attorney’s office as prosecutors ramp up their investigation into the former president’s role following a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Ms. Conway is just the latest witness the district attorney’s office has met with as part of the ongoing criminal investigation into the former president. The longtime fixer for Mr. Trump has given some 15 interviews with the district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors have already determined that Mr. Cohen’s $130,000 payment was made toward the end of the 2016 presidential campaign. Mr. Trump then repaid him.

Stormy Daniels claims to have had an affair with Mr Trump when he was married to former First Lady Melania Trump, who had given birth to their son Barron less than six months before their affair.

Ms Conway has now met with prosecutors as they try to establish her role in the alleged payment of hush money to the porn star.

Ms Conway played a small but intrinsic role in the payment, Mr Cohen said earlier.

Mr. Trump’s former attorney wrote in his 2020 memoir, “I called Trump to confirm that the transaction was complete and that the documentation was there, but he didn’t take my call — a very bad sign, of course, in hindsight.”

He wrote to Mrs Conway and ‘then called and said she would pass on the good news’.

Ms. Conway, who bequeathed her role as senior adviser to then-President Trump ahead of the 2020 reelection campaign, was reported to have entered the DA’s Manhattan office on Wednesday afternoon this week.

In January, a grand jury was convened to hear testimony about Mr Trump’s alleged hush money and denied affair with Ms Daniels.

The grand jury is an anonymous panel of 23 random individuals living in the Manhattan constituency. They have vowed to sit on the jury for six months while they hear the case and whether charges should be brought.

It was reported that the jury has so far heard testimony from five individuals. Two Trump Organization employees, Jeffrey McConney and Deborah Tarasoff, testified. Keith Davidson, Ms Daniels’ former lawyer, and David Pecker and Dylan Howard, who worked for the tabloid newspaper The National Enquirer, allegedly helped arrange the payment of hush money to the porn star.

The questioning of the witnesses will ultimately inform District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg whether he will attempt to indict former President Trump and pursue criminal charges.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has labeled the proceedings a partisan witch hunt against him.

The New York Times reported that a spokesperson for the Trump Organization said, “This is just the latest act by the Manhattan DA in their never-ending, politically motivated witch hunt.”

They also said the case was needlessly reexamined based on “dubious legal theory” and called it “reprehensible and vindictive.”

Trump has previously blasted Bragg as a “radical” prosecutor for investigating alleged “hush money” payments to Ms. Daniels.

He accused Mr. Bragg of spending more time investigating him than looking for crime in New York City, and claims the Democrat leaked the grand jury report to the press himself.

“With homicides and violent crime rising in New York City like never before, Manhattan’s radical left DA Alvin Bragg just leaked to the Fake News Media that they’re still after stormy ‘Horseface’ Daniels,” Trump wrote in January.

Working closely with the Weaponized Justice Department, this is a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time. They missed the statute of limitations a long time ago, and I recently won big money against ‘Stormy’ in the 9th circuit – NEVER HAD A CASE. This is old news!’
