Kelly Ripa has addressed the pay disparity.

appear on the cover diverseIn the “Women’s Power” issue, I noted how I had experienced abuse in the workplace in the past.

The talk show host shared that when she starred in All My Children in the ’90s, she was paid less than her co-star and now husband, Mark Consuelos. This, despite the fact that she started working on the soap before he did.

“It started years after the start,” she said of their time together on the show.

Also in her interview, she said she had a wardrobe as a desk when she started on Live With Regis & Kelly.

“I didn’t get what we call my ‘fancy job’ until I actually started making more money from it,” she said.

We’ve been together for so long that it’s always been group money. We’re pretty much old-fashioned in that sense.

She also revealed that she was treated badly on Live With Regis & Kelly when it started.

When the 52-year-old started Live With Regis & Kelly in 2001 after leaving Kathy Lee Gifford, she didn’t get any kind of VIP treatment.

Instead, the actress — who spoke about her marriage earlier this week — had to use a janitor’s closet to do her paperwork, and had to use a public bathroom that held 250 members of the public, which was awkward, especially when there was a line. .

“I had a really tough time,” Ripa told the paper.

Ripa revealed that she had to push hard for some privacy in the workplace.

In 2001 when she was hired on Live, the former actress was told she couldn’t have her own office.

But there were empty office spaces in the building that she could have easily slipped into to take her calls, leave her bag and stow her papers.

Ripa was told no.

It added that it had been told the empty office space was reserved for executives who had visited from Los Angeles.

Then four years later, in 2005, I was given a janitor’s locker which they removed and moved an office into.

It was clearly a way to keep her ego in check.

She thought she might finally have her own office when actress Regis — who passed away in 2020 — retired from the show in 2011.

But this did not happen.

Rather than inherit Philbin’s vast office, it was left empty.

They said, “Oh, no, we’re saving that.” And I said: Save it for what? suspended.

And they said, “Well, that’s when the new guy comes along.” And I looked at them and said, “I’m the new guy,” she said.

Kelly never got the green light to take over the office. So instead she made her way to him.

She added, “All those offices that were not available to me were suddenly made available (to others), with the walls demolished to make them twice as big.”

“It was great for me to watch—the need to make the new guy feel comfortable and respected, but I couldn’t use those desks,” she said.

I had to use the broom closet.

And when she had to use the bathroom, she had to go out to the main bathroom where members of the public were directed.

We have a studio audience – like 250 people! – And I have to stand in line, ”I explained.

Especially when I was pregnant, waiting in line was incredibly stressful.

“I have to host the show,” she said, “and I’m still waiting in line to use the bathroom.” “It seemed, you know, a very unnecessarily difficult situation.”

So who do you blame? Grid, because they didn’t keep it up to par.

Ryan Seacrest is now leaving the show and Consuelos will be stepping in.
