Kelly McCreary announced that she will be hanging up her uniform after playing Meredith Grey’s half-sister Maggie Pierce for nine seasons on the hit series Grey’s Anatomy.

The 41-year-old actress confirmed the news to her 2.1 million Instagram followers on Friday as she recalled some of her character’s most memorable scenes.

“9 seasons, 200 episodes, dozens of heroic surgeries, countless brave patients, dozens of delicious scenes at sisters’ house, 1 episode with my real life sister, some loss and some pain,” he captioned a screenshot of the video. popular medical drama.

She went on to recall that Pierce, who serves as chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital, experienced “a few ghostly visitations” from her late mothers, a “lot of drunken emotional breakdowns” and “a handful of boyfriends.”

The mother-of-one also reflected on filming several awkward dinner parties, taking and throwing punches, and learning tons of “medical jargon” over the years.

“It has given me the opportunity to collaborate with, learn from, and be inspired by countless brilliant artists, both in front of and behind the camera,” said the artist.

As for playing Maggie Pierce, McCreary called the role “one of the true joys of” her life.
