Kellie Pickler and her late husband Kyle Jacobs’ parents are embroiled in a legal battle over his personal assets following her tragic death.

Pickler, 38, filed a petition against Reed and Sharon Jacobs, the administrators of Kyle’s estate, for items they said belonged to him before his death, according to court documents obtained by In contact On Wednesday.

Kyle died by suicide on February 17, 2023 at the age of 49, and although the couple had been together since 2008, Pickler refused to act as administrator of his estate, allowing his parents to take control.

The dispute centers on a document called the ‘Asset List,’ created by Kyle’s parents, which includes personal items they requested via subpoena, according to the outlet.

Among the items listed is Kyle’s gun collection, which includes three rifles, seven handguns, a shotgun, a silencer and a gun safe.

Also on the list are Kyle’s watches, jewelry, a collection of baseball cards, musical instruments and personal devices such as his laptop and iPhone.

Pickler’s attorney maintains that some of these items are not in his possession or that his ownership is in dispute.

In his petition, Pickler claims that Kyle’s parents entered his home to take items after his death, but did not provide him with a list of what they took.

He is now asking the court to force Reed and Sharon to identify the items they removed.

“As part of this action, Ms. Pickler requests an order requiring the co-trustees to identify the items they obtained from her home,” the petition reads.

Pickler also asked the court to resolve the ongoing dispute over the property.

Reed and Sharon, however, dispute Pickler’s claims, insisting that she is violating a subpoena demanding the return of the estate’s property.

They argue that Pickler has been uncooperative and has provided conflicting information about the location and ownership of the items.

The Jacobs family admits visiting Pickler’s home to retrieve certain possessions, but maintain that this was done with Pickler’s explicit consent and at the invitation of both her and her attorney.

They also allege that Pickler had reserved the items in question for them and therefore no list of items was necessary.

The couple’s prenuptial agreement, which outlined the division of assets, is also a point of contention.

Reed and Sharon have requested that Pickler’s petition be dismissed, citing the terms of the agreement.

Meanwhile, Pickler has been granted a protective order to prevent public release of the transcript or video of his deposition.

His legal team maintains that such disclosure would cause undue embarrassment and burden.

The Jacobs family has opposed this protective order, claiming that the court did not provide a clear justification for the ruling, especially in regards to avoiding “embarrassment.”

For now, the case is ongoing and both sides are preparing for further legal proceedings.

In June, Kellie sold the home she shared with Kyle 15 months after his death.

Six months after first listing the property for nearly $3 million, the country singer finalized the sale of the four-bedroom, five-bathroom custom home for $2.3 million.

The 4,875-square-foot Tudor-style home is the former marital home where the couple lived together and where Jacobs took his own life at age 49 in February 2023.

Nearly nine months after her tragic death, he listed the home for $2.89 million and then lowered the offer to $2.6 million in March in an effort to offload the property.

The American Idol alum, who rose to fame after finishing in sixth place on season five, previously purchased the property for $1.43 million in January 2010, just a year before she married the music producer.
