Kel Mitchell is recovering from a medical incident, according to the actor, who posted a message overnight thanking those for their support during the “frightening time.”
“Grateful for the outpouring of prayers and positive feelings that surrounded me during a truly frightening time,” the actor shared in a statement posted to his Instagram between Wednesday and Thursday.
The actor did not reveal what prompted the health-related incident or when it occurred, but did reveal that he had been treated and was back home. “By the grace of God and the skill of a medical team, I am now on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family,” he wrote.
The Hollywood Reporter has contacted Mitchell representatives.
He then thanked friends, family and other supporters who had contacted him since his treatment. “The fear was real, but so was the support,” his statement said. “Your kindness has been a lifeline, and I can’t thank you all enough. Lots of love to each of you.”
The incident comes just a few weeks before Paramount+’s release of a highly anticipated sequel to his and co-star Kenan Thompson’s ’90s film. Good burger. Thompson was among those who responded to Mitchell’s post on Thursday, sharing three prayer hand emojis in response to the news.
Fellow actors of the Good hamburger 2 star also shared their support, with Yvette Nicole Brown writing: “Glad you’re on the mend pal!” and Damon Wayans, Jr. replied, “Glad you’re feeling better, my brother.”
