German Martin Kaymer is on the hunt for his first win in six years after shooting a stunning 66 in the third round of the UK Championship at The Belfry, Warwickshire.

Kaymer fired eight birdies in heavy rain, reaching ten under par, two shots behind South Africa’s leader, Justin Walters.

Kaymer, who hasn’t won since the 2014 US Open, said: “Those were the toughest conditions of the week.

“I hit the ball pretty well, but I just needed one of those days when the putter was warm.”

Frenchman Benjamin Hebert is on par with Kaymer in second place.

Laurie Canter is the best-placed Englishman after a round of Day 65 took him to seven under par.
