EXCLUSIVE: “I had no idea … I was shocked!”: Strictly’s Katya Jones discusses Kevin Clifton’s departure from the show when she arrives at the TRIC Awards with Mike Bushell
He shocked his fans when he announced that he had stopped Friday with Strictly Come Dancing.
And fellow professional dancer Katya Jones (37) from 37-year-old Kevin Clifton said she was just as surprised as the audience when she heard the news.
Kayta said during the TRIC Awards at Grosvenor House in London on Tuesday: “I was shocked and had no idea. It was a surprise for all of us.

‘But I like to see our professionals do other things. It is exciting. He has so many passions and I am really happy for him.
“As far as Strictly is concerned, we naturally lose a good professional. But I am really happy that he is growing and doing other things. He is so talented and fantastic. ”
Katya arrived at the TRIC Awards, which celebrates the best of the television and radio industry, with her 2019 Strictly dance partner, Mike Bushell on her arm.
She looked incredible in a blue sequin jumpsuit that was strapless in design and had a peplum detail at the waist.
The pants had a wide-ranging design and Katya looked like she was paying tribute to the famous Strictly Glitterball in her glitzy number.

Meanwhile, Kevin’s departure on the show comes after a seven-year period amid claims that he thought he was bigger than the BBC hit.
Fans remained devastated by the news when they went to Twitter to share their tribute with one quote icon Bruce Forsyth by saying “you were my favorite.”
And on Tuesday, strict champion Kelvin Fletcher told MailOnline that he thought it was “sad” that Kevin was leaving.
He said: ‘It is sad when someone goes because everyone is wonderful. We found that every week when we said goodbye to people. That was sad too.
“Kevin has been a great ambassador for the show … I’m sure he’ll do well in another chapter of his life.”
When Kevin, 37, announced his departure Friday via social media, he wrote: “To the entire Strictly family. The last 7 years have been some of the best years of my life.

“Since I was first named” Kevin From Grimsby “in 2013 by Sir Bruce Forsyth, I have experienced the highlights of 5 finals, winning a Guinness World record on It Takes Two, the Strictly Arena tour of Glitterball and then the ultimate win of the 2018 series with Stacey Dooley.
‘After finishing the last series with the Children In Need trophy and the Christmas special, I want to leave at a high point and have therefore decided that it is time to move on and focus on other areas of my life and career.
