Katy Perry will reportedly receive a staggering $5 million for performing at the AFL Grand Final in Melbourne on Saturday.

The American pop star is being paid a huge fee to sing five songs to a roaring crowd of 100,000 at the MCG ahead of the Sydney-Brisbane match, the Herald Sun reports.

The huge sum the 39-year-old singer will be paid for her brief pre-game performance is said to come with a few conditions: that she perform a selection of older, well-known hits, rather than songs from her new LP 143.

There are also rumours that Australian pop legend Tina Arena will perform alongside Katy at the big sporting event.

“There will be a surprise performance from a favourite Australian artist that I admire,” Katy revealed on Channel Seven’s Sunrise morning show.

“She’ll sing a little bit with me, I’ll sing a little bit with her. They’ve sworn me to secrecy, I’m locked up, with chains, all that.”

Katy’s revealing use of the word “chains” led viewers to suspect she was hinting at performing alongside Tina, who had a huge hit in 1994 with a song of that name.

Channel Nine reporter Tom Morris revealed on Monday that AFL bigwigs told the singer they expected her to perform her older hits including Firework, Roar and I Kissed A Girl.

Appearing on SEN Breakfast, the veteran AFL journalist claimed Katy’s team had rejected a request from the AFL for the Teenage Dream singer to perform just one new song.

“She’s going to play about five songs and the AFL was very interested in her playing five classic tunes, she wanted to play two new ones,” he said.

Tom added that both sides had come to an agreement and that Katy had reportedly only agreed to a new song.

‘They eventually met halfway and she played one new song and four classics,’ he said.

Co-host and AFL great Kane Cornes, admitting he was a Katy Perry fan, added that the AFL should have a say in planning the stadium extravaganza.

‘The AFL says, “We just want your hits. We just want your hits. We want Roar, Teenage Dream, Firework.” They want all the songs that we know and love. And she balked and said, “No, I want to play two of my new songs.”

He added: “You know, when you go to a concert and maybe they’re older and all you want is their best, their greatest hits.”
