Katy Perry took to Instagram on Tuesday alongside fiancé Orlando Bloom with a post that showed her under a filter that showed her age as 50, while Bloom remained unaffected.
In the post, which was related to her upcoming single Lifetimes, the 39-year-old singer had her black hair down and wore a grey shirt as she became increasingly wrinkled as she posed alongside the actor, 47.
The Santa Barbara, California native has been heavily promoting her upcoming single Lifetimes after a lukewarm response to her last single, Woman’s World.
Perry referenced her partner’s iconic roles in the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean film franchises in the caption of the post.
“I guess the filter doesn’t work on elves or pirates,” Perry wrote in the humorous caption of the post. “Sad.”

The filter was a hit in the comments thread, with many of Perry’s fans mentioning the video for her 2010 single. The one that got awayin which she used makeup to look decades older.
“Are you the actress from ‘The One That Got Away’?” one fan said, while another added a GIF of the clip.
Another fan said, “For the first time, Katy Perry has aged,” while another fan said, “Orlando will love Katy for all his lives.”
Perry, whose previous hit singles included 2008’s “I Kissed a Girl,” 2010’s “California Gurls” and 2013’s “Roar,” announced on social media Monday that “Lifetimes” would be the next single released from her upcoming album 143.
She posted an image of the single’s cover art, which depicts a heart, and featured it on her social media posts.
The intense promotion comes after Woman’s World, the debut single from her upcoming album, peaked at No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and No. 65 on the Global 200. Variety reported.
Perry faced an uphill battle in terms of publicity after it was revealed that she worked on her next record with Dr. Luke, the producer who faced allegations of sexual misconduct by Kesha, leading to years of litigation on both sides.
Perry captioned the humorous post: “Guess the filter doesn’t work on elves or pirates. Sad.”

Earlier this month, Perry took to Instagram after the music video for Woman’s World, which was intended to have an empowering message for women, was criticized by fans due to the skimpy outfits and the aforementioned appearance of Dr. Luke.
Perry said of the clip’s themes: ‘We’re having fun, being sarcastic with it, it’s very slapstick and very direct… with this set, we’re not focusing on the male gaze, but we’re really focusing on the male gaze.
“We’re really over the top, and on the nose because we’re about to get drunk, which is like a reset for me and my idea of the divine feminine and it’s a completely different world where we go after this.”
Perry said in February that she was leaving American Idol after seven seasons to refocus her attention on her solo career.
Perry is set to release her new album 143 on September 20, and has teased songs on social media including Nirvana, I’m His He’s Mine (with Doechii), Gimme Gimme (with 21 Savage).
Perry’s most recent release was the album Smile in August 2020, which included the single Daisies. It debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart.
