Katrina Gorry’s fiancée has lifted the Matildas star’s spirits with a heartfelt motivational message delivered just before Australia took on Denmark in their World Cup qualifying clash on Monday night.
Clara Markstedt shared a photo of herself watching a Matildas game in the stands with Gorry’s daughter Harper, accompanied by the words: ‘I wish I was in the crowd watching your game tonight @katrinagorry10. I’ll be cheering loudly from Sweden. UP THE TILLAS! You got it.’
The Swedish soccer star, who is a talented veteran of the country’s Damallsvenskan league, had made the trip to watch her partner compete in the biggest tournament of her life, but flew home recently.

His message comes after Gorry also took to Instagram to thank him for his support after he helped the Matildas beat Canada 4-0 in their last match of the Cup group stage last Monday.
“My beautiful fiancé,” she wrote. ‘Thank you for traveling to Australia to support me in this World Cup.
“It’s been very special to have you in the stands and to be able to spend so much time with our family and friends.”
Gorry joked that he hopes not to meet Markstedt “too soon” as it would mean the Matildas tournament has come to an end.
‘We will miss you but we will see you soon… but not too soon. I love you.’
Gorry, affectionately known as ‘Mini’, has had an incredible journey both on and off the football pitch.
In 2021, she gave birth to her daughter via IVF solo, then got engaged to Marksted in June.
The romantic proposal took place in the quaint Swedish town of Falkenberg, with a beachside backdrop and heartfelt gestures.
Although initially surprised, Gorry eventually gave the correct answer.
‘She (Markstedt) wrote me a letter, told me to close my eyes and got down on one knee. It was beautiful…’ (But) at first I said no because she was in shock and then I said, ‘Of course! ‘” she recounted.

Teammates in football and teammates in life, Gorry was initially surprised by teammate Markstedt’s proposal before giving an emphatic ‘yes’.

Gorry and Markstedt with Matilda’s daughter Harper are a happy family based in Sweden.
Known for her talents both as an artist and as a top-quality Swedish soccer player, Markstedt transformed her grandmother’s diamond rings into bands, embodying significant Swedish tradition.
Often referred to as the heart of the Matildas team, Gorry plays a crucial role in the team’s engine room.
The inaugural Matildas captain, Julie Dolan, told Daily Mail Australia that Gorry was even more important to the team’s World Cup chances than his more high-profile teammates.
“People keep talking about big shots like Sam (Kerr) and Ellie (Carpenter) and people like that, and that’s great, they’re world-famous names. But Gorry is my favourite. You can’t win without Gorry,’ Dolan said.
