Katie Price has revealed she is ‘mentally unable to stand trial’ following her shock suicide attempt as she reacted to the news of her second bankruptcy.

The former glamor model, 45, has been declared bankrupt for the second time after failing to pay over £750,000 in unpaid tax – and will now face losing her home unless HMRC can recover the money.

Earlier this week, she failed to appear at a court hearing in London with an HMRC official said she had failed to pay money owed or respond to correspondence since the claim for the unpaid tax was made last year.

When the news broke, Katie spoke exclusively to the Mail’s comedy podcast, Straight to the comments! which embraces the cheerfulness and uniqueness of the MailOnline comments section with the celebs in question.

In a teaser for the episode, which will air on Monday, she discussed her bankruptcy with producer Jamie East and host Josh Pieters, admitting that ‘when you ignore it, it just gets worse.’

When she told a story about how she’d just broken up, Katie gasped in shock and said: ‘Got it? Oh get lost! Are you really serious while I was sitting here? What have I done now?’

After hearing she had been declared bankrupt for the second time, she said she had been called out because of ‘serious things’ in her life.

She continued: ‘I just can’t handle going to court. Mentally, I can’t do it’.

Josh asked when her debts started piling up, while Katie explained: ‘Since my breakdown. When you’re sick and depressed, everything adds up.

‘If you can’t manage something or you haven’t paid that bill. Communicate, don’t ignore, because when you ignore it, it just gets worse.

“It upsets me because they don’t know how hard I mentally tried to get out of the rut that I was in. A rut that I hung myself and thought I was dead.”

Katie previously revealed to MailOnline that she was raped at gunpoint during her 2018 carjacking in South Africa, which eventually led to her suffering a mental breakdown.

She described the traumatic events that led to her breaking point, where she suffered a failed suicide attempt in which she tried to hang herself, ‘knocked herself out and had black eyes’ – after which she sought treatment for PTSD.

In September 2021, Katie was arrested for drink driving after flipping her uninsured BMW X5 on its side on a country road near her home in West Sussex.

Katie admitted drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance at court and immediately checked into The Priory after the arrest.

She was given a 16-week suspended sentence and two-year ban at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.

After the incident, Katie said she was in therapy once a week and how, at her lowest point, she tried to take her own life.

In her hard-hitting Channel 4 documentary, which was filmed in the wake of her car crash in September 2021, Katie also admitted that the accident finally helped her realize she needed help and she checked into rehab.

On Monday, Katie was declared bankrupt for the second time after failing to pay over £750,000 in unpaid tax – and will now face losing her home unless HMRC can recover the money.

The former glamor model failed to appear at a court hearing in London to explain why she has not paid any money to HMRC.

A High Court judge ruled she should be declared bankrupt after an HMRC official said she has failed to pay money owed or respond to correspondence since the claim for the unpaid tax was made last year.

It is the second bankruptcy Price is facing as she is hounded by creditors for a £3.2m payment due to the failure of her company Jordan Trading Ltd.

Judge Sebastion Prentis, sitting in the High Court Rolls Building, said Price had been served with a petition on November 27, 2023, claiming £761,994.05.

The huge amount is made up of unpaid tax from self-employment on her earnings from 2020 – 2022 as well as fines and surcharges.

The court was told she owed £142,405 in tax for 2020-2021 and £196,735 for 2021-2022.

The judge said she also owed £140,000 in unpaid VAT, adding: ‘As with the unpaid tax, no payment has been made.’

Price was served with papers in October by HMRC informing her of the outstanding debt – and she has failed to respond to the claim.

The judge said: ‘There is a significant debt owed by Miss Price to HMRC and therefore I will make a bankruptcy order.’

Price first went bankrupt in 2019 when her company went bankrupt.

She has failed to appear for an insolvency hearing on six previous occasions, with the model each time submitting an excuse for her absence.

Creditors are owed £3.2m by her company, which sells perfumes and cosmetics.

An HMRC source said every effort will be made to recover the money and if it is not paid, assets owed by Price will be seized.

The debt to HMRC could see her lose her £2million mansion dubbed the ‘Mucky Mansion’ after it fell into a state of disrepair.

The latest court ruling adds to the problems for Price, who last week was fined for another motoring offence.

She was fined £880 after being caught driving a Range Rover at a petrol station on the A14 in Kettering, Northamptonshire in August 2023 despite having no license or insurance.

As well as being handed eight penalty points – bringing her total to 11 – the mum-of-five was also ordered to pay £972 in costs on top of the financial penalty.
